PSALM 118.5
I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me and set me in a large place.
Scripture says and God gave Him a name that is above every other name that at the mention of that name, every knee must bow, things on earth and things in heaven, every situation, every challenge, every trouble, every health issues, every difficult situations and pain we are going through must bow down and every tongue must confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
In times when we find no reason to live and have lost hope in life, the name of the Lord is a strong tower to call upon and the sure thing is that He will always answer us no matter what.
Let us not allow what the people around us are saying to stop us from calling upon the name of the Lord in our distressing moment, let us not allow our challenges to deprive us of calling upon the name of the Lord, let us allow our health issues overwhelm us that we forget to acknowledge a name who can heal us in just a twinkle of an eye.
That name is the strong tower that the righteous run to and they are safe, that name is the name that the sick call upon and they are healed, that name is the name that the hopeless look up to, and their faces shine with so much hope and believe for the future.
Many times, all we have to do is call upon the name of the Lord like the woman with the issue of blood did. He knows our needs, He knows what we are faced with daily, He knows our health issues, but He needs us to take a bold step towards Him and not sit down waiting for manna from heaven to fall without us doing something to get what we want. It will not always happen that way. He will not always give us, He most times will want us to call upon His name for what we want, to ask, to knock, to seek, and find what our needs are.
Jesus Christ knew that there was a woman in that street who have been suffering from the issue of blood for years now, but He needed her to release that only Him can save her, He needed her to realize that those people she has been looking up to will never heal them because He created them all and He is the creator of everything and only when she acknowledges the Greater one will her infirmity be healed. Luckily for her, she was wise enough to realize this before He left her street.
Many of us are like this woman with the issue of blood, running helter and skelter, failing to realize that there is a name that when we call, every storm ceases and remains calm. All He needs from us is to call out for help, all he needs from us is to come out of our comfort zone, all he needs from us is to realize that not everything needs our money, most situations needs to hear a voice to speaking or crying to God, all he needs from us is our total submission and humility, acknowledging that only Him can save us.
David reckons that He cried out to God and He heard him and came to rescue him, no man has ever called upon the name of the Lord and has been failed. So the name of the Lord is the best and only name we should call upon when we are met with challenges because only Him can save.
Just maybe if the woman with the issue of blood had not come out of her comfort zone and taken a step to cry out, Jesus Christ would have passed the street and the woman won't have gotten her healing that day. Just maybe, who knows. Many times we just need to take the step first and cry out to the Lord for help even when He knows.
Let Him know we are tired, we are not liking the situation, we need a change and must get it. Moreover, Scripture says, right from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force.
Many times, we just have to and need to keep on, calling on the name of the Lord, we just have to or need to keep on cry out to for His help and until we get what we want until the healing comes until the blessings come, we won't stop calling upon the name of the Lord.
It is only His name that can save us and help us in our distressing times, no other name works better than His name so as Christians, let us not forget no matter what happens to us never stop calling upon the name of the Lord.
