Equality? There is always positive and negative that will never meet. Farmers in the Philippines suffer from barrier called the Rich Farmer and Poor. When the Rich has gained more asset even no farm work is done, and the other half that do everything it will never be enough.
Hi I am Eunoia, and my articles is focused on Agriculture, farming and Agriculture entrepreneurship. The last episode of my articles had focused on reasons why we need to thank the farmers, but now I will show you another side of HybridX if you haven’t read the story feel free to visit the Eunoia: HybridX1.
The barrier between the full effort and no pain. No pain no game, but in reality, the one who game without accepting pain always the winner.
INTRODUCTION
There are different farmers in the Philippines. Rice Farmers those focusing on rice alone, after the harvest they will rest the soil and get ready for the next cropping seasons. Vegetables Farmers, those who are engage in vegetables productions, Livestock Farmers are raising animals such as poultry birds, cattle, and all ruminant animals. Flower farmers are those culturing colorful flowers. Fruits farmers, those producing banana, pineapples and many more.
Rice farmers mostly from Luzon, which filled with rice field all over the place, vegetables and flowers are main crop in cold region of Benguet, The’y also celebrating their flower festival to celebrate the harvest season of flowers. And sweet fruits are found in Mindanao.
Farm owner (Rich Farmer) those have large area of land needs a Farm tenant (Poor Farmer), to develop the area and provides produce. And this is the start of HybridX
Young Farmer Choice Not Farming
The discrimination against the farmers is passed though generation to generation. We can’t judge people to dream out of the farm and live in the city, because people think opportunity awaits on the city not in the farm. So, most of farmers child they think skipping and leaving the farm is the best choice.
Actually, this is a problem seen by the economist and agriculturist in our country, some of agriculture specialist leaves to work overseas, and if Agriculture related professionals in the country be gone, the country will have a huge problem.
So, the government looking for subsidies, for the number of young professionals’ agriculturist the country produce will gradually increases. But still being in the farming is a discrimination. So, I am here writing this word to encourage you not to say negative words for student taking the course.
What Is Destined Work of Agriculturist?
To better understand what is waiting for Future Agriculturist here it is.
Teacher- if you loved teaching and farming, you can join them two together. College professor, Farm and Demo Instructor. This is hired by some model farm that teaches new technologies for the farmers.
Researcher- this is what I inline with, research and experimentation. Private company actually hires agriculturist to research, develop and innovate their products. Some are chemical company and fertilizer manufactures.
Agriculture Heads- in the Philippines every LGU need an Agriculturist to manage, help and record the Production of different crops in the country. The latest Agriculture secretary of the Philippines is sir William Dar, that I actually meet during the pinning ceremony of new registered Agriculturist.
Plant/Animal technicians- when your farm has trouble in manifestation of pest or other, they will do the trouble shooting and recovery of farm.
Agriculture Farm Veterinary- they are on call veterinary.
Soil Scientist, Plant Pathologist, Forestry manager, fisheries, toxicologist and many more.
This are the opportunity waits for an Agriculturist, its uncommon. That’s why I don’t see a good reason why people discriminate the young professionals, and why farmers child had to scape farming and go to a city if they could continue the farm activity.
Farm Owners Becomes Homeless
This is actually another unseen problem of the Farmers, where farmers force to sold their land because they can’t afford anymore the dept from the bank or private company. This is really the reason why rice farmers sold all they harvested grain and choose to buy retailed rice for there own consumption. They do the all the job, from sowing (Planting of seed/seedlings) to harvesting. And they get only 20% of the income profit because of dept they need to pay.
Another ignored problems of farmers are the loses, during calamity crops fall down because of wind, some rice field has been flooded so the rice grain is soaked, vegetables and fruits is damage. Yet the survived crops will be purchased for a small amount.
Farm Tenant Becomes Jobless.
This is actually a big issue way back 2015. When technology innovations come to the Philippines. “The Rice Reaper”. Most of the rice farmer are farm tenant that they are only paid by their time attending to plant and harvest rice, but worst scenario happened when this giant machine arrives. Where some farmers force to do bad thing to survive.
Because technology replace their works on planting to harvesting. Transplanter could plant a one hectare of rice field for over a couple of minutes while manual could take half or whole day. Harvester (Reaper) could harvest much faster with little loss than the conventional practice.
Open Your Eyes
If you’re not a farmer, please open your eyes, what you seen is not yet the serious one. Farmers becomes more poorer and its leaves marks on them. If you are buying in a local market please consider this as eye opener that we not bargain their produce instead we help them
UP NEXT: Not to be biased Farm owners also have a burden problem when it comes to Farm input. Catch the next story for we will unlock another issue on agriculture, how big company trick land owner and make big profit on it.
