Soya milk drink (DIY)

One of the most nutritious drink in the world. One good part about soya beans is that its very versatile. The powder, the milk ,the cake can all be produced from soya beans.

While we are still undergoing lockdown in various countries across the globe we can utilize this opportunity to learn how to make soya beans at home.

It can be used for personal benefits or can be sold to earn little money.

Ingredients

Soya bean (4 cups)

Powder Milk (50g)

Sugar (1/2)

Vanilla extract

Ginger rhizomes

The above ingredients can be purchased in any Nigerian market or supermarket. There are also online stores that sell most of these products.

Procedure

  1. Sieve the soya beans to remove the foreign particles present.

  2. Fill a bowl with water, soak the sieved soya beans into the water till the next morning.

  3. Wash the ginger rhizomes thoroughly cut into small pieces.

  4. Peel off the shells of the soya beans thoroughly, by rubbing both palms on a every handful of soya beans carried.

  5. Take the peeled soya beans and the cut ginger rhizomes to the grinding mill, and grind to form a paste.

  6. Take home and sieve with a transparent clean cloth, to extract the milk.

  7. Transfer this milk to a pot and heat under low heat and stir for few minutes. This is to remove the unnecessary impurities that might have come in contact with the paste while grinding.

  8. Add sugar to taste ,the powdered/condensed milk, vanilla extract and stir homogeneously.

  9. Stir until it form a thick paste of your desire.

  10. Once the thick paste is formed allow to call and refrigerate.

Note: Ginger is only added based on individual preference. I add ginger in mine because it contains so many nutrients and antioxidant properties.
