If you were given an opportunity to make a choice between going to school or acquiring a skill. What would it be?
This is a very tough decision to make, because in Present times we need both to survive.
Well before we go ahead to make a decision let's look at them specifically.
Skill
Skill can be defined as the ability to do something well. The capacity to be an expert in a handiwork. Skills can only be acquired or learned which makes it different from abilities or talent. Talent is an innate/inborn capability to carry out an activity.
What does it mean to acquire a skill
Acquiring a skill entails undergoing a skill training for a specific period of time under the supervision of a professional skill owner. The world has evolved to the level where, one is appreciated by what they do. Thereby making acquisition of skills handy.
Different skills exist in the world... From baking to hairdressing, computer skills, technological skills, designing and even crypto skills.
Once you have gathered the basic knowledge and other attributes, that's the ticket to establishing a business and being your own boss.
There are more than a million skills out there
The pictures shared above are all skills that both the educated and uneducated persons making a living from, feeding their families and making several leaps in their lives.
Going to School
Involves getting enrolled in schools so as to obtain certificate that will enable you to be eligible for a job anywhere in the world. Educated People are often more privileged than uneducated in the career field.
This involves a whole lot of money for tuition fees and other fees, which mostly run for 4-5 years. Unlike acquiring a skill, whose duration is 6-12months.
After graduation, next thing is getting employed to work in an organisation. Which means working under an employer till one generates a saving to Own one.
Some persons are often sad in their workplace due to unforeseen challenges they face at work.
Most times the work do not allow them make out tine for family and friends. The stipends might be to poor to cater for the family.
Aside that there's a prestige that follows education. Most prominent men in the world are all educated and established.
Now i begin to wonder, since both sides have a lot of juicyness, What is it gonna be.
What's it gonna be
For me
Both are very important to have, there are jobs that requires you to own a computer skill before you can be employed. While there are skills where you need to be educated before you flow well with it. Both are very much valued in life. But if i was to make only one choice out of the two, I'll get a skill. Of which I'll train for a year, start up my own business and of course use the money to enroll myself to school. Because either way i'm not on the losing end.
What's it gonna be for you? Acquire a skill or go to school?
I like your opinion, both choices are also affected by the region where one finds himself.
