Pie is an integral part of the culture and tradition of Bangladesh. However, due to the impact of urbanization, it is on the way to extinction. Thousands of years ago, cakes were made in the farmer's house when the autumn crop was harvested. This continued until winter. At one time, any Bengali festival used to have a variety of cakes mixed with joy. In mechanical life which has lost a lot today.
For the first time, a day-long Winter Pitha Festival 1422 was held on 14 January at Savar Public University with the slogan 'Eat pitha all day, Baul song in the evening' to introduce the lost pitha to the new generation under the influence of urban culture. More than 50 stalls from different departments of the university participated in the festival. About 50 types of cakes from rural Bengal are displayed and sold. Chitai pitha, bhampa pitha, chai pitha, poya pitha, pakan pitha, patisapta pitha, golap pitha, nakshi pitha, gharakanya pitha and other pithas are available in the festival. The festival is organized on the initiative of general students in collaboration with various organizations of the university including the Central Student Parliament of the People's University and the Journalists' Association. In the winter morning, the cake stalls organized on the campus of the People's University were decorated with various decorations. The campus is littered with posters, placards and festoons. The festival site became noisy with the great joy and enthusiasm of the students. The cake festival lasts till evening. At the end, Baul songs are arranged with tolerable Bauls. In addition to university students, ordinary people around the campus enjoy the festival. At the People's University Vice-Chancellor Professor Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Registrar. Delwar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Hasin Anupama Azhari, examination controller Murtaza Ali and heads of different departments and teachers visited the stalls.
Bandhan, a second-year student in the pharmacy department, said, “I grew up in the city from a young age. I have never been to a village like this and have never eaten a cake. Different types of cakes from different regions of Bangladesh. And those cakes have come here in this cake festival. On that occasion, various cakes were shown and eaten. Shahinur Islam, coordinator of Pitha Utsav 1422, said, “We are very proud to have organized such an event for the first time in the history of the university. The spontaneous arrival of everyone at this festival has made our event a success. Thanks to everyone for their cooperation and we look forward to continuing to do so in the future. " Ataul Mahmud Khan, a former law student, said: We were able to come back to campus after many days. If there is such an event, those who have left the campus will be able to come back to the campus. This will create a good relationship with the seniors and juniors of the campus. H.
