The national flag of Bangladesh is the pride and arrogance of every person in this country. We got this flag through the freedom gained in the long nine-month bloody war. So our national flag and the war of independence are interrelated. During the war of independence, this flag united the freedom-loving people of Bangladesh. Standing under this flag, the patriotic freedom fighters took an oath to liberate the motherland. Our freedom has been achieved in exchange for the blood of heroic martyrs. The red circle of the flag has therefore become a symbol of the holy blood of all patriotic freedom fighters. The national flag is therefore glorious and significant to us.

The red circle is slightly pressed to one side, so that when the flag flies it can be seen in the middle of the flag. The original flag was drawn by Narayan Das. On 15 February 1971, Shiv Narayan Das and one of his associates named Yusuf Salauddin designed the national flag in room 105 of the then Iqbal Hall of Dhaka University. Bazlur Rahman Laskar, owner of Apollo Taylor in Dhaka New Market, donated clothes for the flag.
