The Return to Ancestral Cultures Against Existential Contingency

If we exist in the midst of contingency, why don't we make plans that ensure that community life on the planet occurs with the utmost justice, equity and respect? I would like us to return to ancestral customs such as those of Eastern countries that are still maintained, where respect for others is part of the way of life; or perhaps to the rules of communication used by our grandparents, as a way of correction for the superficiality of relationships and communication today.

A film of only 1 minute and 58 seconds, where a person gets into an elevator taking it to the maximum capacity that makes the elevator vehicle not close, and where no one takes the initiative to leave so that others can go up, has gone viral on the net.

This situation continues until a disabled woman is the one who sacrifices herself and decides to get off the elevator to wait for the next one, leaving everyone with a feeling of uneasiness of conscience; and the viewer, with the certainty that the word "overload" that appears as the only dialogue in the film, is the perfect definition of what is happening in our society, that is, that we are "above the capacity" of solidarity, lack of answers, individualism, insensitivity, lack of tolerance and lack of respect.

I believe that existence moves only in contingency, in the dichotomy of what can be and what cannot be; nothing of what the human being thinks, does, plans, works, is out of contingency; for that reason, we have looked for the weapons to plan schemes that allow us to make things happen in the best way; and everything within the possibilities of being or not; because even the fact of existing is an act of contingency, since we can even create humans or not.

Over the years, we have increased the speed at which we acquire the knowledge to make things happen; we have developed doctrines, ways of living at home, ways of doing politics; of administering goods and services; we have developed tools, even robotic ones, to improve production that we have massified; and as a result, we have seen a disorganization in the allowed behaviors.

And I am referring to the fact that we have neglected that valuable cult that once existed for moral and ethical values; and I am specifically taking as an example ancient civilizations, where authority was respected, the heads of families had as a guide and educators or teachers in the different areas of learning were seen with almost idolatrous respect.

I think that the organization of society obeys to the fact that plans must be made to avoid that by contingency, bad things happen, that we do not have resources, that the human being suffers, that we move away from the option of being happy; but we are not achieving it; The number of world problems corroborate this; and facts such as the lack of respect and insensitivity for the other, intolerance, ignorance of what is different; the advantageousness, abuse, violence and the exaggerated struggle for power, have taken us away from the right path on which to travel.

Starting a path towards the recovery of values begins in our homes; and the implementation of behaviors that gave results to have respect for the experience, should begin to be studied and implemented in the social nucleus.

Observing certain ways of seeing "the human" in Eastern countries such as India or Japan, may lead us to acquire behavioral patterns that simplify the current social life that is full of conflicts and demotivations; differences and distances in our communities; after all, greeting the stranger, thinking about the needs of others; giving space for others to follow; is part of the service and as a physician, I know we are trained for it.

A mother sacrifices her life for another she brings into the world taking risks and changing her organism to unsuspected states so that the other may exist; a father binds himself to responsibilities to support the growth of his children; an older brother fervently defends his younger brother before the attack of others; and that is part of being human; so we would not be recovering anything strange, only returning to our roots.

#Iamgrateful for the ability to see others as my brothers, as my equals, passing through a moment on this planet that deserves respect and love like each one of us.
