Forgetting the past

In a relay race, you can only emerge a success if you keep looking forward and not backward. In riding a bicycle, you can only remain on track if you're looking forward, not backward or downward. In life, yesterday's success is an enemy of today's success. You always have to forget the past.

Have you made a landmark achievement in your career? Have you been accorded an award of a great accomplishment? If you don't quickly set a new record for tomorrow, today's achievement will soon become obsolete. Yours may not be a positive achievement but a negative thing that keeps pulling you down or a failure of the past. You have to let that go as well. You have to forget about it. You need to look ahead of you. Never submit to that guilt; it does not define you. To shape your future is in your hands. God says "I will never remember their sins" (Hebrews 10:17). Truly He doesn't remember because He cannot lie. You are the one trying to give it a life. Paul's letter to us today highlighted that there is a great future ahead of us. We should focus on that future and not the past. Whenever the devil reminds you of your past glory or fault, tell the devil that you're not in the past tense, but you're in the present.
