Live Like Tortoise Not Like Lion

I want to draw your attention to two animals, the tortoise and the lion. The book of Proverbs tells sluggards to go to the ants and learn from them .In Prov. 6:6. God uses insects and animals to teach us. I believe God designed us to live like the tortoise, not the lion. In the wild, lions are predators. They are aggressive and highly territorial. Living like the lion means you are always hunting for survival against competitors, fighting to defend your territory at work, and perhaps roaring at your children or subordinates. Is that the rhythm you want to constantly live with?

Researchers found that the adrenal glands of lions in the wild are swollen and tend to be about 25 percent heavier than lions in captivity with similar body weights. You can imagine the adrenal overdrive that lions in the wild are subject to. In contrast, look at tortoises. They do everything slowly, moving one stubby leg at a time, taking their time to chew leisurely and refusing to be hurried. They were probably the last animals to arrive at Noahโ€™s ark, and perhaps Noah even had to pick them up and carry them into the ark because they plodded so slowly and it had already started drizzling But at the end of the day, tortoises live long.

Giant tortoises, for example, have an average life span of over a hundred years.10 Whose rhythm would you rather follow? Beloved, you donโ€™t have to run the rat race like the rest of the world only to become the number one rat, or focus all your energy to frantically climb the ladder only to realize too late that it was leaning on the wrong building. The world we live in is one that desperately needs rest, and of all the blessings that our Lord Jesus could give us, He said, Come to Meโ€ฆ and I will give you rest Matt. 11:28.

The world may depend on toiling to get ahead, but only God can put you at the right place at the right time. You can rest in Him and put your trust in Him. You can let Him take your hand and lead you to walk in accordance with His rhythm, the unforced rhythm of grace and the rhythm of rest

I must admit sometimes I am living my life as a lion. Always in a hurry, trying to survive life. And treating life as if it is a competition that we should win over. But I must also say, I am slowly learning how to live like the tortoise. Even if everything seems slow, at least I know that I will get to where I belong. Thank you for this beautiful masterpiece. :)
