"When Will My Life Begin?" A famous song from the 2010 Disney movie called "Tangled" circles around the life of a girl who has experienced being isolated from the outside world. In the song, Rapunzel, the main character complained about being stuck in the same place doing everything that she can do. Like her, I don't find comfort in repetitiveness, routines, and schedules. I am the type of person who wants to have something new in her life every day, something to look forward to.
Similar to the movie's title, I would describe my life as messy or tangled. Admittedly, following a routine has proven to be a helpful factor in my life however it also made me feel that something is missing. It may have been the influence of countless high school movies or series that I have watched or simply because I am going through puberty. My life is a mess simply because I keep on wishing or expecting something ridiculous or extraordinary to happen in my life. I have many questions as to why certain things only happen to other people? Bakit hindi sa akin? Bakit sa kanila lang? Kailan ko kaya mararanasan 'yon? These questions are rooted in jealousy and envy of what other people are experiencing. They may be the same age as me but they seem to have more of a life than I'll ever have.
However, entering SHS, a new chapter in my life has led me to realize how normal it is for someone to question life. My first year as a senior high school student has taught me that having questions about life is not unusual or weird. It is actually something that drives people to understand how exciting or amazing life is. It made me comfortable knowing that I was not a bad person for wishing more, I was just like every other kid questioning life as I grew up knowing more about the world and myself. IYAK MALALA
But is it not questioning the most basic thing ever to exist? I always like to think that being human is like having a book that is not finished. Isn't it human to wonder about what might happen next in our lives?Considering that we all grew up in this world knowing close to nothing. And with our life being a complete mystery. I like to believe that being human is discovering every single page of it. However, discovering every page is not enough. There is a reason why teachers like to make students reflect on a book that they have read; it is done to discover if they have understood the author's message beyond the words or text that they have written. We as humans do question everything but we are also afraid of discovering something that we do not expect or want. And this stops us from understanding why certain things happen to us. Already claiming life to be miserable but also forgetting that we are at fault for not looking deeper into events that happen in our life. Life is full of possibilities and reasons. There are reasons why we go through certain things, it may be because of different circumstances and chances but that is how life is. Life does not only have one layer but a lot that you can be into once you look deeper into it.
Even so, with our lives being a journey to get through, people refuse to read into them. Only seeing the book cover without fully diving into why things have seemed so or why this person has turned out this way. And even though people overuse the quote: "Do not judge the book by its cover", it cannot be denied that we all do the same with other people. We react and define people only based on what we see from them on the outside without fully understanding that there might have been a reason for their actions and behavior. But if we start to unfold every chapter of their lives, there we will understand what makes them human. And one would only discover more about their morals if they try and discover others. Learning how they think, act, and the reason behind it, makes us have this self-reflection if we disagree or agree with their gestures. By exchanging ideas, we get to learn not only about other people but also about ourselves. And these discoveries about our principles and values are what make us human.
On the other hand, we should not completely depend on other people's books as they cannot always hold the truth. Some people may present only a part of their lives and fabricate the rest of their stories to make them more interesting. We must remember to be true to ourselves first, if we also show people fiction they will also do it in return. Do not make other people's stories the control of our decisions and actions in life. We must not let other people's experiences be the basis of our opinion. In the end, even though people go through almost the same thing, their story is not the same as our story. There may be circumstances that led them to experience it but that does not mean the same goes for us, individually, our experience is still different from theirs. Rather we should use them to unfold more about ourselves and not lose who we are in the process. Once we let other people control our choices or opinions, it will remove the idea of who we are and we will mere followers or replicas of someone else's thoughts and actions. It is important to learn from others and gain perspective, but ultimately, we should stay true to ourselves and make decisions that align with our own values and beliefs.
To conclude, each person's journey is unique, and what works for someone else may not necessarily work for us. We should cultivate self-awareness and understand our own desires, dreams, and goals. We should not give others the power to dictate our lives or determine our worth. It is essential to have confidence in our own abilities and trust in our own judgment. In the process of unfolding more about ourselves, we can still appreciate the wisdom and experiences of others. Their insights can help us gain new perspectives and inspire personal growth. By doing so, we can become the best version of ourselves and lead a more fulfilling and authentic life. And we need to remember that each and every person in the world has an originality in their story. Some may appear identical but it can be a coincidence and nothing but a coincidence.
That's all for today! Thank's for reading!:) Hope you guys have a nice day!
