Godfatherism

I have always believe that education is the key to success and without a doubt, I have been able to achieve all I have because I was able to receive a good education. It is thus disheartening to see the rate at which many youth are going astray. It is saddening to see how some of these young people are being totally left behind. They are not given the kind of education that prepares them for life in the real world and even more saddening are the people who continue to keep them where they are but also use them for their own selfish gains. This has led to a variety of young people engaging in practices that can make life more difficult for themselves and this is what we call "Godfatherism".
I have come across young people (mostly boys) who have been made godfathers without giving it much thought, without thinking about what it really means to be a godfather. A manager of a business should be the one who runs the day-to-day operations but that doesn't mean they should be called godfathers. A godfather is someone you look up to, someone who is just there if you need them.
Godfatherism is the evilest and the most stupid form of mental slavery which human beings engage in. It makes people lose their individuality and make them act against their will, with the end result being that they are pissed on by those they consider brothers or fathers.
This madness started when every black person decided to call every other black person "nigger" because some white people were sounding stupid calling them niggers. It is not good to call your brother by a word that is a variation of the word nigger. A word which has been used to distance you from the rest of humanity for hundreds of years.
The word nigger is a bad word, it is a weapon of mass destruction, as it reminds you how ugly you are when you hear it. But this goo called godfatherism makes you call a stranger "my nigga" even if you don't know him or her. It is an evil practice. Meet individuals who do not follow the old school practice of godfatherism.
Multiple studies and surveys show that godfatherism has very negative effect on the students. The practice increases the students' exposure to criminality, reduces their chances of getting a good job, and lowers their life expectancy.
The term “godfather” is used to describe a grade or year head in primary and secondary schools who use their roles to abuse their powers to control and order around their fellow classmates.
This is done by giving undeserved favours to their siblings, cousins, and other close relations when they are being considered for admission into secondary schools even if such students do not meet the minimum academic requirements.
Studies have also shown that godfatherism leads to school failure, as no one wants to fall out with the quiz master by answering wrong questions.
I am a godfather to a wonderful baby boy whose mother’s first words to me were “I don’t need your help. I can do it by myself.” I wasn’t offended. It’s something I hear often at work.
There is this perception that once you get a job in the industry – no matter how junior your position – you are suddenly a “godfather”, or someone they can call on for favors. I love my job and I love getting involved in other peoples’ campaigns but there is also an extent to which this title of ‘godfatherism’ is absolutely ridiculous.
Now, I realize that woman may have felt that I was an important person due to the fact that my name is John and my last name is Wolf. However, that’s exactly why I am making this public statement. During the holidays, it is not rare to receive a gift that you do not like or fits you but you are expected to say thank you and be grateful.
A lot of people do not agree with this approach. They feel that a gift should be given once and be liked by the receiver.
This is where the slogan from the DeeSophisticated campaign comes, saying no to godfatherism.
The series of posters were published on social media with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of being grateful for a gift and at the same time reinforcing the concept that a gift should be for someone useful and liked. This campaign was well received by different audiences and was shared on social media as well as printed in various digital and print media.
This campaign won in 2017 at Animago Festival in Warsaw (Poland), within the category Creative Campaigns, Gold Label.
My theory is simple. Be the Godfather for a beautiful reason.
