What's your motive for wanting to succeed?
Have you sat down to ask yourself this questions?
👉Why do you want to succeed by all means?
👉What's your motive for all the striving and hustling?
Many a times, our driving force or motive is borne out of envy and jealousy.
Somethings are not wrong, but our motive for doing so could either make it wrong or a sin.
Why are you putting in more effort to top in your class? Is it because you envy a particular lady or guy that has been topping?
Why are you leaving the business you're doing and venturing into the same one your neighbour is doing? Is it because you envy them for the fact that they always have more customers or clients?
Why do you want to buy that car, house, dress, hair...?
Why do you want to marry that man or woman?
Why do you want that job?
Why do you want to learn that skill?
Why do you want to go into acting drama in Mount Zion institute?
Why do you want to release that song or book? Is it because you want people to feel you've arrived? Is it because you want to do pepper dem gang? Is it because you want people to be famous? Is it because you want the accolades they give your friend?
Some could even go to the extent of ending another persons life out of envy.
Some could go to the extent of pulling others down to rise.
Some could go to the extent of blackmailing others to make themselves well known.
Some come to the online space to tarnish the image of a well known person, to be the centre of attraction or focus.
Some could go to the extent of dragging people's name into the mud.
I've seen people saying rubbish or continually pointing out people's error on the content they create because they want to advertise their skills or profession or career.
You don't rise by trying to pull others down. Even if you do, it won't last.
Why do you want to marry a wealthy man or a curvy lady? Is it because your neighbour is flaunting theirs? Is it because you feel left out?
By so doing, many have married people that end up destroying their lives.
All these things we're killing ourselves over are meaningless. It is like chasing the wind.
This life is not a competition ground. There's enough space for the bird of the air, such that they don't have to fight.
They don't have to tell the other, you're occupying my space. The space is wide enough to accommodate many.
Stop making life hard by seeing it as a competition ground.
Run your own race. Fight your own fight. Concentrate on what you're doing.
Do it with the right motive. Do it for yourself and not because you're competing with another.
The only competition you should have is striving on how your tomorrow can be greater than your yesterday.
Your competition should not be with another human.
In conclusion, Succeed because Christ wants you to prosper, and not because you want to pepper your neighbour or because you envy their success.
Remember, there's enough space for the bird of the air. So spread your wings and soar higher, without having to block or deny another from soaring high.
In everything you do, have the right motive. In everything you do, make sure you succeed because God wants you to be a good success
Anytime envy steps into someone's agenda of achieving a goal, it drives that person as astray. Set your goals and achieve them our of envy
