The book of Kings was not only written about the rulers of Israel and Judah or the length of their reign as kings. It was not only about Solomon, the King of Israel, and the son of David, about his wisdom and his judgement. Kings also tells a story of the two greatest prophet in Jewish history, after the death of David. The two prophets are Elijah and Elisha, who replaced him after he was taken up to heaven. These two prophets worked so many miracles and helped so many people in the Bible. The first book of kings recorded the miracles and the ministry of Elijah while the second book of kings recorded that of Elisha.

2 kings 2:11 says "And as they still went on and talked, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated the two of them and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven". The time came when the Lord was to take Elijah to Heaven. Elijah was followed by his Successor, Elisha, anywhere he goes and anywhere he stops. Even if he tells Elisha to leave him to go, Elisha still follows him. This verse is all about trust, love and the time of God. Trust is one of the predominant attributes of the verse and in a christian life.

Elisha trusted Elijah so well that he could follow him anywhere he goes and stops. If anyone doe not trust God he will not survive anywhere because trust is one of the main attributes in the relationship of God and man. Love is another Predominant feature of that the chapter and the verse. Elisha loved Elijah so well so well and that is why they worked for God together no matter what happens. In the Lord's commandment it stated that we are meant meant to love one another just as we love ourselves. God is love, it was stated in the bible that anyone who does not love people, is not going to be loved by God. In order to draw God closer to you, you must love your neighbor.

His love is sufficient to anyone and when He loves you, you're eternity with him is assured. God's time is another attribute of a christian that is not meant to be tampered with. Ones has to be patient with God and refuse to ask God questions. God's time is the best and anyone who is patient with God will be accepted into heaven just like Elijah. The prophets did all that God instructed them to do and God saw them through. They also faced problems during their ministry but God was always on their side. The prophets were patient and God gave them one way tickets to Heaven.

Second Kings 2:11 is telling us that when one trusts in God, loves Him and is Patient with him, he will be accepted and taken up to heaven just like the prophets. This is a lesson for all Christians, we should put our hope in God, life is our portion.

When talking about love, it always reminds me of the corinthians bible verse. I cannot remember it as good as you but I know it deep in my heart. I still remember some of Elijah and Elisha stories. I believe this is also why I named my daughter Elisheba as her future baptism name if she could have one. I hope she will like the name.
