Introduction :

The environmental crisis is approaching all over the world. Man-made instruments have been ruthlessly axing the natural environment since the beginning of civilization. As a result, the balance of nature is being lost. Environmental scientists today are concerned about deadly water pollution and air pollution. Various researches are going on about the way to get rid of this. The United Nations has declared June 5 as 'World Environment Day' to create awareness about the issue. Environment means air, water, land, human beings etc. All the things are inter-related with another. It is a great threat that the environment is being polluted day by day. It has become a serious problem in our country. Environment pollution is a much-talked topic of the present time. Our life is so deeply and invariably related to environment that any pollution of it causes dangers and brings about different disasters. In fact, a sound environment is the precondition of a sound living. However, our environment is being polluted in a number of ways.

Causes Of Environmental Pollution :

The causes of environmental pollution are innumerable. However, the main reasons are: unplanned urbanization and industrialization, massive population growth and unplanned use of trees and forests. Another cause of environmental pollution is population growth on Earth. This has put tremendous demand on limited natural resources. The intensity of cultivation is increasing in the land, the use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides is increasing. This is destroying the life force of cultivable land. On the other hand, with the establishment of new settlements and factories, the cultivable land and forest land is gradually declining. The next day, a huge amount of toxic waste was released into the sea, along with black smoke and toxic gas emissions from the factory. The natural environment has become unbalanced, polluted and uninhabitable due to the effects of toxins on soil, water, air and the plants and animals around us.

Scientists have noticed that the earth's temperature is rising as a result of environmental pollution. The sea water has risen as the ice of the North Sea melts. As a result, innumerable lowlands like our country are sinking in the near future.

The industrialized countries of the West are mainly responsible for environmental pollution. But it should not be forgotten that environmental disasters are not unique to any country or people. It will endanger the very existence of mankind.

Environmental Pollution Problem And Bangladesh :

Limited terrain and resources and relatively dense population and disaster prone geographical location have made the people of Bangladesh vulnerable victim to environmental pollution. There are various causes of environmental pollution in Bangladesh :

* Explosion :

Due to the pressure of population growth, the amount of free zone and forest land in Bangladesh is decreasing. Wetlands are being filled and used.

* Excessive Use Of Fertilizers And Pesticides :

Excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides in the land is causing soil pollution and land degradation. These chemicals combine with rivers and reservoirs to kill aquatic plants and animals.

* Industrial Pollution :

Liquid chemical waste from factories is contaminating the water, leading to extinction of fish. Industrial fumes pollute the atmosphere and pose a threat to public health.

* Deforestation :

Under the pressure of population growth, 1.4 percent of the forest is being deforested every year. As a result, land erosion is increasing, flood resistance is declining and the country's average temperature is rising.

* Installing Deep Tubewells :

The installation and use of deep tubewells is causing the groundwater level to go down further. As a result, the water crisis is increasing in the dry season in the north. The problem of arsenic contamination in water is evident.

* Garbage Problem :

In urban areas, polluted gas is causing air pollution.

* Inadequacy Of Land :

The natural balance is being disturbed by cutting down the hills and building houses. The environment is also being polluted under the pressure of the city's floating people and huge slum dwellers.

Remedies :

These are the steps that need to be taken to prevent environmental pollution in our country :

We need to raise public awareness about the dangers of environmental pollution. At least 50% of the total area of ​​the country should be afforested. Renewable fuels like wind, solar and hydropower need to be introduced by replacing existing fuels. Sisters need to prevent erosion and erosion. Industrial and household waste has to be disposed of at a designated place.

Gas collected from waste should be used as fuel and waste material should be used as fertilizer. The use of organic fertilizers should be increased by reducing the use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture. Use of pesticides should be reduced. Work to prevent environmental pollution must be transformed into a social movement. Industrial factories should be set up away from residential areas.

To prevent the use of defective parts in industry and vehicles and to find more efficient devices with less fuel. Also to prevent population growth and increase the rate of education, to consider its environmental impact before any plan. Coastal dams need to be constructed and afforestation along the embankments.

Those who are unknowingly involved in environmental pollution need to be made aware of this, Similarly, those who knowingly do not care about the environment for the sake of huge profits should be severely punished.
