Time for a suicide break
Since yesterday, I was searching for a topic to write about, and then I came across an issue that needs serious attention, "Rise in suicides among teenagers".
Even though "teenagers" isn't the topmost age group with the highest number of suicides, a gradual increase in its percentage during the past two decades indicates an alarming situation.
Speaking of suicide, It isn't an unusual phenomenon; It has been there since the beginning of life, But "Suicide, as the leading cause of death around the world" that's what's surprising.
Causes of suicide include violence, poverty, depression and many more. Sometimes hopelessness can also cause it; Normally, people left with no choice tend to suicide. These days, it's just like a trend. Everyone thinks of it as an easy solution. But, we should know that suicide isn't a solution; in fact, it expresses one's cowardly nature.
Well, if I ask you, what's causing more suicides these days? You might answer me with joblessness, poverty and some of the reasons I mentioned above. And, of course, all these reasons are correct, but here a question arises; That, these factors have been like that for centuries, everyone faced them, then why we? Why we are the only ones facing these drastic changes?
Well, the answer is quite simple;
Impatience
Hopelessness
Fear of failure
Nowadays, People lack qualities like patience, hope and courage, and that's why even something little stresses them out. Which eventually results in bad decisions made. And as in the case of teenagers, who are immature and over-emotional, The results are even worse. They usually don't bother rethinking their decisions. And these careless and childish habits lead them to decisions with severe consequences.
Well, it's not that I am only blaming teens; they aren't the only ones responsible for this enormous change; in fact, the whole society is. Because, in our society, there are no guidelines for teens, no proper counselling systems, no one to lead them towards the right path, which forces them to rely on their own immature instincts for their everyday choices.
Expecting teens to act like adults is our biggest mistake; that's true that they are not kids anymore, but they aren't adults either; they need to be guided and looked after until they grow up as mature adults (who are capable of making the right decisions).
Another big mistake is to impose our high expectations on them. Of course, high expectations lead to success but sometimes putting too much pressure on teens can depress them. As they always feel pressured because they have high expectations to meet, and If, unfortunately, they fail in doing so, the feeling of regret eats them out. And this regret can often lead to suicidal thoughts and attempts.
Speaking of expectations, I remember hearing about the same incident in my city a few months back. There was a university student who ended up attempting suicide just because she had failed an exam, luckily she was saved by a boy who was hanging around.
Conclusion:
Life isn't that cheap that you end it for some no good reason, for something that isn't that important at all. It is a gift that you only get once so don't waste it enjoy it. If you made some mistakes in the past, learn from those mistakes and start over. Ending life is never a solution, never was, never will be.
So, finally, here it comes to an end. Honestly, I hardly managed to finish it.
I am not sure if you will like it or not but believe me, it took me over two days to write the first three paragraphs of this article, and the rest of it, well I wrote it in the last one and half an hours because I wanted to finish it today and luckily I did. By the way, It's 12:32 AM.
