How do you feel around people? Do you feel shy or confident?

Do you classify yourself as an introvert or an extrovert?

(in case you don't know what it means let me clarify it for you.)

An introvert is the type of person who is shy and enjoys loneliness.

while

An extrovert is the type of person who is Confident and likes being social (enjoys outdoor activities).

I'm pretty much sure that after going through the simple definitions of these two words you have already made your mind of what category you fall in (introverts or extroverts).

Well, it's not that simple and this is the point where the twist comes in. Turns out there is another category that lies somewhere in the middle of both of the above-mentioned categories called "Ambiverts" or "Omniverts".

An Ambivert is the type of person who possesses traits of both introverts and extroverts. In simple words, he/she can act like an introvert or extrovert according to the situation and that's what makes them different. But, here another question rises:

Why there is a need for another category?

Well, the answer is quite simple, after studying and observing people closely it was clear that most of them either weren't fit for both categories or were fitting into both at the same time. With this observation, the demand for another category raised, which lead to 3rd category called "Ambiverts".

Now that we know how this new term came into existence let's talk about some facts.

1. As soon as the term "Ambiverts" was introduced, it neglected the fact that a person can only be a pure introvert or a pure extrovert.

2. It was estimated that the majority of the people on earth are Ambiverts. Even there is an estimated percentage of 68% for it(it's not confirmed).

3. With the fact that ambiverts are in majority, it was clear that pure extroverts and introverts are less in number(somewhat rare).

Now, acknowledging the fact that intros and extros are rare, we can jump to a conclusion that most people who think they are on the one end (introvert) or the other (extrovert) are maybe unaware of the middle way (Ambiverts). In other words, they are ambiverts but they don't know that.

Finally, after this whole discussion, we know what " introverts who aren't introverts " meant.

It meant "those who think they are introverts but actually, they aren't".

Similarly, there are most people who think they are extroverts but actually, they aren't.

Conclusion:

We see that originally these categories are just made to give us an idea about our personalities and which aspect of our personality needs work. It never implies that if for example; you are an introvert then you are definitely gonna be a shy and quiet guy and if you are an extrovert then being social and confident is destined for you.

I hope this article helps you in some way
