Happiness is something you create

" Happiness is something your create."

At first, when you read it, it seems like just another inspirational quote or saying. But, when you dig deeper and look into it. You find out that it isn't just a saying; It's a guide, a piece of advice, and most importantly, it is the essence of someone's whole life; Their whole life experience that they summed up in a single sentence for you.

These days if you ask someone, what is happiness or when will you be happy? They will give you a few obvious(and typical) answers to this question,

for instance;

  1. If I get rich.

  2. If I become a celebrity

  3. If I could do whatever I want.

These, along with many more, will be the most common responses you will get from people( no matter where you are from).

But, here, the question is that

1 .Is everyone in this world rich?

  1. Are they a celebrity?

Or,

3. Are they getting whatever they want in their life?

Without giving it a second thought, your answer to this would be a big NO, followed by another question; The question that if that's so, what's the real happiness, and why does everyone keep giving these(non-true) answers?

Well, the answer is quite simple,

Now, We( like everything else) have set standards for happiness. In other words, despite the fact that it's just a delusion, we have (intentionally or unintentionally) tricked our minds into thinking that we will be happy if( and only if) we meet these standards.

Which, of course, doesn't seem to be true for most of us because, if you look around; you will see lots of people around you who are either rich, are celebrities, are getting what they want or a combination of three, but still, arent' happy.

While on the other hand, you will see those who don't have any of these( above-stated comforts and facilities) and are hardly capable of earning a living but still are happy and enjoying their lives. Which gives quite an impression that happiness isn't that strongly associated with being famous or rich the way we think it is. In fact, as I said earlier, it's just a delusion.

Reading the above para, some of you might get the wrong impression that I am trying to say that those; who are rich and famous can never be happy, while those who aren't can; If that's the case; I am afraid I'm gonna have to stop you guys there because you got me wrong.

What I was only trying to say was that "Happiness"(itself) doesn't have to do anything with fame, wealth, poverty or anything else;

It totally depends on "You".

To be more specific:

  1. The way you look at things

  2. The way you handle situations

  3. (And)Your attitude while facing them( the "situations")

In simple words

If you look at things with a positive attitude, no matter how worse the situation is, you are more likely to find positivity in it;

which will eventually make you happy.

But,

On the contrary, if you have negative attitude towards everyting, you willl end up finding negativity in positive situations as well, which , as a result, will upset you and your mind. And will only make you sad.

After going through this whole discussion, if we re-read the above quotation to see what it means, " Happiness is something you create".

It's pretty clear that if you want to

You can even turn your small achievements into Happiest moments of your life.

And, if you don't,

Then, the greatest achievement of your life won't be enough to put a smile on your face.

Because, you don't want it to happen.

Conclusion:

(At least)Happiness has nothing to do with your riches and social status; It's something every one, no matter how poor or broke they are, can enjoy. Because, it's all about your desire( to be happy) and attitude;

In other words, if you possess a desire to be "Happy", You can be Happy.

happiness is sure our responsibility. In as much as sometimes it looks as though someone want to steal our happiness away but we are still on the drivers seat to determine whether we should be happy or not

Right. Exactly. By the way, I really liked the way you said " we are still on the drivers seat"; It really gives the impression that we are in control. Thank you so much for your comment.

I remember this. It has something to do with Stoicism; and there's a book about it that one read before. :)

Maybe... Well, I see that you like to read... because you always have something to relate to no matter what the topic... lol Pretty interesting. I also love books and I used to read them a lot; but now I have lessened reading them; not because I lost interest, but because I am always occupied. But leaving books doesn't mean I left reading; Now I read articles( pretty much, regularly) and not only on read.cash; random.

Hahah in some sense you're right; mostly on self-improvement topics that is. There's a "seasonality" where one read extremely lots of books; and other times one didn't read a page. One found that not every book is helpful: particularly, some concepts described by one author contradicts another, and one couldn't really decide which to follow except via experimentation and see which gives better outcome. In terms of occupied, one could see what you mean; though one don't really have that problem. If one wants to read, one could always wake up earlier to do some reading before work.

Hahah it's good as well to read more broadly. In terms of articles, one didn't read as much as one supposed; one is more attracted toward books than articles, honestly speaking.

Hmm. GoodLuck with your experimentation. Waking up early to read a book... hmm. Well, I can also do that but I usually am a "night-time guy" so even if I want to, I can't get into it.

Speaking of books over articles, of course you are right, articles can never replace books, because books are written after a detailed observation and research. plus they are written to cover every aspect possible of their subject( which isn't quite possible, but mostly are covered) while articles, they are there to give you an idea of what is happening or what can...(if you get my point). Plus, articles are there for those who want to read but don't have much time.

I totally agree. GoodLuck with your "early morning reading" Stay happy, stay blessed

Hahah I used to do that. Used to wake up early; now I'm quite late night person; and to wake up early requires planning.

Hahah true. Sometimes though, a collection of articles can become a single book; thick or thin. Mostly, they're just random stuffs, unrelated to each other, even from the same author (like mine is everywhere).

Thanks. Have fun!
