This what we go through to become professional Doctors!!!!!
Today I want to share my personal experiences which I have gone through for the last five years annually at the end of session during my exams
Preparation Period
The preparation period of medical professional examination is kinda hectic for oneself varies from person to person. Obviously girls take more tension than guys but it depends on if you want a distinction or not, Most of the time I am being myself too much confident about my preparations for the exams. Study a lot of stuff, go through past papers of previous years and then make notes for easy review and revision of stuff when exams arrive.
Examination Days
These days are the toughest days in the life of a medical student, a lot of mental stress, nerve wrecking phase where we had only 3 days in between every consecutive paper and a syllabus of more than 20 chapters to be revised in a these days. On the night before exams, it always felt like I am in a war zone where I have to do anything and anyway Do or Die situation
On the morning of paper palpitations, nausea, vomit and headaches is the common observation among us
Clinical Exams
When we are done with written exams, then comes practical clinical exams short formed as OSCE or TOACS where we are assessed on the basis of our basic medical skills like measuring blood pressure, performing system wise clinical examinations on patients in just 5 mins on 20+ stations each being observed by professor. This phase of exams is too thrilling and carry solid marks, If we messed up any step marks are deducted on the basis of marks assigned to that step in a sheet given to the examiner plus in some station we have X-rays, scenarios, pictures of disease, graphs and ultrasound pics as well as instruments and asked questions according to that.
Viva Voce
Then at the end comes viva voce where we have to take history and do examination on bed side of patient in hospital and then examiner comes and assess us by listening to the history and asking about what is our diagnosis on the basis of history taken and examinations done
Personally I really fear this phase of examination and I most of the time mess it up
Results
At the end there is pre result and then result phase which is also nerve wrecking when you have multiple thoughts whether you will make it to next year or not because in medical career a fail counts as very bad because it affects the aggregate in medical induction exams for specialisation
So in short it is very hectic and very nerve wrecking to become doctor and needs a lot of sacrifice and dedication to the field and become noble is obviously not an easy deed to be done
I myself was very interested in medical field that’s I had to sacrifice my sleep, family functions, my own care with me being in medical I got a lot of stress pimples, hair loss and weight loss so this wasn’t an easy journey
Good to see your journey ❣️
