Howling a wrongdoing Note: This article is intented for giving informations and has nothing to do with political belief. We see, Philippines’ corruption index is still high in fact it lands 113th spot on global index last 2019 worsen from the previous rankings (Transparency International, 2019). Crime rates also rises and disinformation widely spread through social media where majority of people are using it. Mocha Uson, OWWA Deputy Administrator yet is noted as the “fake news queen” for spreading false information. Her fake news posts were fact checked by various media outlets. Recently on May, the NBI summoned her for posting erroneous information on crediting the government for the distribution of PPE, which were later then found out that it has been donated by SM Foundation. Our investigative journalists do not repel their eyes on it, exposing the small-time to big-time transgressors. In history, investigative reporting through the tenacious effort of the investigative journalists in the Philippines, it made a historic events that changed the Philippine regimen. On 2001, PCIJ’s magazine article “Can the President Explain His Wealth,” through to persistent attitude in investigations of Sheila Coronel leads to the impeachment of former President Joseph Estrada and charged with plundering about $8 million when she first discovered and exposed that Estrada, his family and mistresses had interests in 66 corporations that could not be explained in state assets and income taxes. It was referred to as the “Second People Power Revolution” when anti-Estrada protesters gathered on EDSA, the same site where the historic people power happened that brought down the dictatorship of Marcos. On 2003, Coronel won Asia’s Premier Prize, the Ramon Magsaysay Award. (Coronel, n. d) Moreover, “Pork Barrel Scandal” must be the biggest scandal in the Philippines’ recent history ―being the roasting topic in different newspapers and online news media. July 2013, when Philippine Daily Inquirer started to run series of special reports pertaining to the allegations about the pork barrel scam of which involves Janet Napoles, the mastermind and several lawmakers, Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla. After so much investigations and trials, Napoles alongside three senators faced graft and plunder charges before the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan. After blowing the whistle on the issue, most of the protesters demand to remove the pork barrel in the wake of the COA report and the alleged P10-billion scam orchestrated by Napoles (GMA News, Dec. 2013). Over the unexpected threats from the Terrorists, investigative journalism, in addition boon the world to prepare for it. Maria Ressa, on her tenure as the CNN’s lead investigative reporter, she was able write a book Seeds of Terror: An Eyewitness Account of Al-Qaeda’s Newest Center of Operations in Southeast Asia (2003), a book of fascinating but little known “terrorist HQ”. Discovers how Al-Qaeda planned and execute their attacks like the Bali bombing, she also discovers how they operates in Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore that were all linked by the principle “if one Muslim hurt, we all hurt.” Ressa witnessed the shifting of tactics of Al-Qaeda and its generation roots in the Muslim strongholds in the Philippines and Indonesia, retrieved from, Amazon.com, n. d). Above all, Maria Ressa was able to reveal globally the systematic plan of Al-Qaeda and would alarm the armed forces of every state or perhaps the most satisfying is working on peace talks. Journalistic Legwork that Tumbled a President (Short Analysis and Reflection) This article gives an overview to how the investigative journalists work as they were called upon their professional egos. Also, for those Filipino citizens who doesn't know about Erap Estrada's case, probably this article will give you an enlightenment. This case study tells and instruct broadly in both phenomenological and fastidious approach of investigative journalism. Arguably were the things I’ve learned and realizations about my previous shallow articles I’ve crafted. Where did I flaw before? What were the things I should have been considered in doing my article? And lastly were the legal sources I should include for much accurate reports because although I am used to writing routine report, it might be a very good attempt to report in a good sense however I failed to acquire well-grounded information, I can’t figure out where to start because like for example there were rumours circulating that it was intentional and probably a politically connected to, I wasn’t able to craft my plan and supposed guidelines before carrying on to investigation. Journalists are the catalysts in societal and political issues whereas journalistic legwork is integral in aiming for the goals in this field of journalism although this case study of PCIJ gives a lot of guidelines from personal experiences that could contribute to everyone's knowledge. Reading this case study and guidelines about the works and processes done by investigative journalists of PCIJ, I clearly understand that the work on investigative journalism is really far different from just doing routine reports in terms of complexity, investigative journalism is complex and impressive erudition is a prerequisite― it’s like doubled or tripled effort should be exerted because it would really test your patience, also there are methodical processes to be followed of course it is important to keep organized and be always accurate on doing researches and reports because one mistake might put you in ruthless scrutiny because like what Sheila Coronel said, you might be ended up searching forever when you don’t have a set of procedures and goals to be aimed and scope to be considered thus you’re not fairly after for the result of your story but you have to be anxious of the systematic processes of journalistic investigation ― systematic in a sense that you have to organize data and use flow charts if possible to find sources. In this manner, they establish methods on how they would carry out their investigation on the undeclared assets of then President Estrada, which is really effective that they became an instrument to oust and impeach the corrupt President. Now aside from building up research strategies technically it should also be anchored on the philosophical level of investigative journalism, which is in my understanding reports should addressed problems that should be changed and corrected. The aim is finding for a broader context which is important to explain what is wrong that should be rectified. Moreover, the base-building wherein in the Philippine context the 1987 Constitution would be one of the strongest bases of the hypothesis and of course republic acts aside from all the legal documents that have been acquired. In addition, tracing the corruption especially in politics involving influential big fishes, it should be inculcated in mind that doing investigative research and looking for records should done very cautious not to spill a word that would alarm the foe or the person who’s under investigation because maybe the next day you wake up everything is concealed hence it would be very difficult now to find records and documents. As part of the ethical behaviour of a journalist lying is an ill-manner because logically speaking journalists are doing researches for news and news should be factual yet you will lie to your sources that’s quite contradicting on your part that you uphold an ethical principle, which is under the code of ethics, on your field of profession. So to make a good relationship with your human sources in my understanding is that leave them a good impression with guarantee that they will be secured, that their security is in top priority because first of all that is their right and journalists should acknowledge and respect that. After a sort, I also found out the significance of double checking of conclusion from theories up to the acquired maximum factual and verified information from combined human sources and paper sources to see lapses and likewise to make sure that you do not incorporate your opinions because this is not a commentary or a column, there is a major difference between them, instead deep analysis is genuinely needed with most probably a lawyer’s aide especially to stricture a possible libel and of course the help of the experts would definitely make the report more accurate. To keep impartiality is to relentlessly confront the accused party because no matter what, journalists shall always acknowledge the right of the accused person shall be presumed innocent as it is stated in the article 3, section 12 of the 1987 Constitution and with that he has the right to defend himself. Furthermore, PCIJ’s teamwork was one of the most important factors that lead them all the way to their goal. It is really touching that through all the hardships they’ve been through they were unyielding and just like the movie All the President’s Men, the editorial works were seen to be vital from checking, discussing and communicating from each other and of course the researchers and all from the workforce are contributing. I have seen the role of everyone is really very important because two or more brains are better than one. Moreover, since investigative journalism involves venturesome researches and investigations, it is indispensable for investigative journalists to take precautions in every single step, although it is not new that I hear this kind of warning, I’m still trembling knowing that this is not an easy job and that would always put journalists in jeopardy in which some caused lives because of the story they made. So, it is important to make and follow precautionary ground plan. “There’s no story that is worth dying for,” but I’ll prompt that a story is worth to save when the Filipino people really need to be informed and take actions to destroy a misdeed.

Child Malnutrition in Yemen Parts of Yemen are recorded of escalated child malnutrition this year 2020. Due to factors including the coronavirus pandemic and the global economic downturn of the said country. This is in an outcome of almost six years of war in the area that causes now a crisis in terms of aid and food security of the country. “We’ve been warning since July that Yemen is on the brink of a catastrophic food security crisis. If the war doesn’t end now, we are nearing an irreversible situation and risk losing an entire generation of Yemen’s young children,” said Lise Grande, the UN humanitarian coordinator for Yemen, in a report of Aljazeera. The UN IPC also recorded a 10% or an estimated over a million increase from the previous data of child malnutrition aged below five years old. Which gives now a total of 15.5% cases of child malnutrition in Yemen. Famine was never been recorded in Yemen, however if the conflicts and struggles continue there's a little chance that a child might survive the crisis of hunger.

Communication Theory as A Field- (Critique Paper) Hello everyone, first of all, I hope you are doing good. I am looking for someone who could sponsor me to continue publishing and sharing you all my knowledge about theories, poems, events and any other articles, which is helpful probably in acads. Please do subscribe to. 🙏 The article "Communication Theory as a Field" wrote by Robert T. Craig, emphasizes the theorists' decentralisation of their works or theories. In other words there is no specific and general meaning of communication theory as a field and basis that they would probably refer of. Morelike, the theorists made their own theory in separate realm of study. Although communication theory is so rich in ideas and it's scope is so broad and lots of theoritical anthologies had been published and still flourishing. The only problem is that there is no what we call a field of communication theory study. Before we go upon the arguments and other ideas correlated in this matter and perhaps with other supporting details from other sources, let us first know the meaning of communication theory for us to have an idea of what are inside of the latter part of this essay. So the word communication is concerned with communication theory that's why it is important to be clear about the term communication. Our view of this word is quite different from what communication scholars beliefs. To us, it's just a simple interaction with others but to the scholars, on the other hand, they defined it as a process by which people interactively create, sustain and manage meaning (Conrad & Poole 1998). That's why communication probably depict the image of the world and the people living in it. The term theory simply provides an abstract understanding of the communication process (Miller 2002).Comparable, it plays the role of a lens which we use to clearly view and understands something. Further, we consider communication theory to be any systematic summary about the nature of the communication process (Dainton 2004). Littlejohn and Foss (2008) defined a theory as "an organized set of concepts, explanations and principles of some aspect of human experience". The existing body of communication theory, which stems from a long line of interdisciplinary subjects such as rhetorical, psychology, sociology, anthropology, and many others (Beniger 1990; Littlejohn and Foss 2008) explains complexity of human communication in detail, yet it has proven difficult to comprehensively integrate and unify these multitheoretical canon of theory (Craig 1999: 131). "Communication theory is enormously rich in ideas that fall within its nominal scope. [Yet] we appear to be working in separate domains and communication theorists agree nor disagree about much of anything. There is no canon of theory to which they all refer. There are no common goals that unite them, no contentious issues that divide them. For the most part, they simply ignore each other" (Craig 1999). From the said above that has been quoted, it simply explains the multidisciplinary origins of the communication theory. I argue that communication theory can't be considered as a field of study considering that there is no unified body of communication theory or classification system that would properly make a coherent organization of communication theory. Moreover, Craig said, there was evidence of strands of ideas that "emerge, split, recombine and spread across disciplines", which become evident when examining the multidisciplinary origins of existing communication theory. Robert T. Craig (1999) developed a metamodel called seven traditions of communication theory (includes rhetorical, semiotic, phenomenological, cybernetics, social psychological, socio-cultural and critical traditions) to address the lack of theoretical unity in communication theory. These seven traditions are essential and was made or designed as constitutive metamodel which can create "a conceptual space" for different theories to engage in meta-discourse in order to achieve dialogical-dialectical coherence theoretically diverse field of communication theory (Craig 1999: 124). The seven traditions can also be used as a teaching framework in which students can apply the traditions to various communication contexts and problems and develop renewed thinking about communication theory as a coherent academic field (Craig 2015: 357). Rhetoric tradition views communication as an art of practical discourse. On the study of Ms. Princesita Timonera which is "the Rhetoric of President Duterte's Speeches and the Aristotelian Conception of the Rhetoric and Public Sphere". She said, President Duterte has become known for his tough talk. Most of his speeches were extemporaneous and off the cut with a dash of expletives when he feels strongly about a topic. Furthermore, The President was fond of cursing in his speeches yet as President, Filipinos hang on to this every word, listen to his anecdotes and cling to his promises and aspirations. This discourse is just an example which cored on rhetoric tradition. Semiotic theory of communication is the process with usage of language and signs this includes most commonly the nonverbal communication which uses sign languages, facial expressions, gestures and many others. So, we usually use this kind of communication when we are conversing with people with disabilities like talking to a deaf, because they can't hear us that's why sign languages was used for them to know what we really want to convey. The problem in semiotic theory is that we can't avoid the emergence of misunderstanding or misinterpretation of individuals due to difference in understanding codes, symbols and signs. The case in the Philippines that has in relation to this one is the teaching of deaf children Phenomenological tradition helps to understand the communication as the experience of self and others in a dialogue. According to this tradition, furthermore, all that humans can really know is that which they experience and personally interpret. It's an intuitive process of observing phenomena as they objectively are, and assigning meaning to them based on the feelings and perceptions elicited during a life experience (Littlejohn & Foss 2008: 38; West & Turner 2010: 30). The example of situation correlated to this is Cybernetics tradition views communication as the flow of information. It de-emphasize the differences between human communication and other kinds of information processing systems. In this communication theory that was developed at mid 20th century from electrical engineering. I think there is already the presence of other communication systems like computers and other technologies. Sociopsychological tradition is a social interaction and influence of communication. The psychological factor affects the communication process often with little awareness by communicators of the underlying causes at work. The research work by Maria Elizabeth J. Macapagal and Jasmin Nario-Galase which titled "Social Psychology of People Power II in the Philippines" will show us the sociopsychological kind of situation. This research looked at the nonviolent process of the Philippines' People Power II, using first-person observations and newspaper accounts. The social psychological nature of this contemporary phenomenon is explained in terms of subjective experiences of the activists, organizational features of the political movements, and collective behaviors involved in active nonviolence. During people power II, participants felt angry, afraid, stressed and yet happy. Psychological antidotes to fear were filipino cultural dispositions such as bahala na (Leave it to God), lakas ng loob (inner strength), and one's Christian faith. Socio-cultural tradition: It views communication as a process of interaction that produces and reproduces shared meanings, rituals and social structures. In this tradition, however, interaction is viewed from the standpoint of the society and not as individual as it is in the sociopsychological tradition (Craig & Muller 2007: 314). The example of this is "The Socio-cultural Situation in the Philippines" by Nestor Castro PhD. On the subtopic there which is the overpopulation and poverty he said, while the economics of the neighboring countries in Southeast Asia grew, such us those of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and to some extent, Indonesia, the Philippines continued to experience economic difficulties. These economic problems included the high incidence of poverty, the unequal distribution of wealth, the diminishing buying power of the Philippine peso, high cost of the commodities, lack of basic services and the presence of slum communities in urban centers. Critical Tradition: this theory views communication as a discourse in which implicit assumptions behind what is said can be freely discussed and mutual understanding can be achieved. An associate example of this is that what is happening inside a forum or assembly. Just like in an assembly of the student organization which they give a chance to the body to discuss what is the agenda and then the president or presiding president ask for approval or objection in an specific matter of order, if the body doesn't approve then the discussion starts so there is now the presence of debates and arguments fighting for their sides but this debate doesn't really means that they want a commotion rather they just want to express themselves and their thoughts and afterwards to have a unified decision regarding such matter of discussions. From the article that I have read and critically analyzed with the help also of other sources thus, it enlightened my knowledge about communication theory because from what I've learned while reading the article was just new to me, what I mean is that I didn't know that there are lots of theories towards communication theory however it is still not yet considered as a field of study according to Robert Craig and I agree with his arguments. There is no field of study on communication theory because there is no general concept of it and the theorists aren't unified. Therefore, as I've evaluated the seven traditions that Craig was made to have a coherent theory - it is really useful and it sum ups yet he still made a conceptual space for different theories. Thereupon, he made a successful theory which organises and unifies multidisciplinary theories by formulating these seven traditions. Each of these traditions shows uniqueness in character and conceptualizing communication nevertheless there is still common goals and contentious divisions among the seven traditions.

Are You a Bully or the Bullied? Let me ask you first fellas, do you know what "Bullying" really is? Have you ever been bullied or a bully one? I just remembered Nick Vujicic's public speaking which he put into words there that,"what if that someone you teases commits suicide?".That only phrase means a lot when we talk about bullying. Everyone think of it morelike a game, a funny doing which somehow makes you a big guy or something. Let me tell you that bullying is a kind of murder which everybody don't know! They're just good at teasing yet they don't foresee what will happen to that someone you've bullied. You're killing that person roundabout perhaps if through physical battering or either way you're slowly killing him emotionally and mentally from your strong words which would make the victim feel so burdened and worst if it turn into emotional breakdown and that would trigger him to commit suicide! You'll be the reason why he lost his dreams, why he lost his future, why his smile won't ever be seen again, why his family's just reminiscing him through his big framed picture and why there's a big tears falling from his mother's eyes. Everyone of us delves in this kind of situation which we may think we're just as little as dust, we'll feel much pain, but don't let those voices tear your life apart! Don't let those voices makes you feel down in the dumps. Don't stay with it, because it's not your enemy who will defeat you! It's you, yourself! Listen to the other voice calling up your attention — the Faith! His words will surely give you motivation, a light that will guide you to the right path and he will lend his ears to you. Remember this everytime you encounter such,"Don't go to it, go through it." And to the bullies, you know who you are, assess yourselves. Why am I a bully? What makes me a bully? Ask yourselves. Bullies are also victims of emotional distress, it depends on the circumstances. Lend your ears to them, listen and understand probably they're going through something difficult in their lives. Be a helping hand to those who needed the most.
9:19 9:16, everything's at peace People are having their rest However, still thinking about the recent earthquake People just can't fail to ignore it 9:17, people become so uneasy They seem so afraid of something I wander, what it is? Doomsday! Someone said terrifyingly! 9:18 and people are having commotion Of someone's so-called prediction 9:19 is the end of the world! I was caught of guard hearing those words The awaited time has come, at exactly 9:19 People are raising their fear thru prayers Ravishing words of wisdom endowed Saying, God will never fail us, he will undoubtedly protect us! 9:19 has passed and I heard nothing but the cold wind blow Keep the warm night slightly mellow People started again to talk about God Not asking for something but to thank him The prediction didn't happen Did God stop it or it wasn't really true after all?
Having a problem on my wallet or is it just normally happening? I was like deducted or somewhat like that, I should have 0.50 in total yet it goes only 0.41. How is that happening?

"One's Catastrophe" Amidst the dark hazy night A girl whose name is unknown revealed Loomed the uncovered body on the thick fog She's listlessly hopeless Oh, poor little girl! Whose blood is freezing Whose breathe is slowly fading How miserable life it is! How could such thing happen to you? Her body's being despoil by heinous criminals However they're still out there Victimizing some innocent girls Hell on earth! She couldn't speak nor move She's cold and firm Her breath finally ended The girl is dead! Rumors spread out over the citywide It unleash a vast fear to the people Thorn of terror covers the whole city thrusts the people's innocent soul [I dedicate this poem to all victims of harassment and rape. I am an advocate of rape is not about what we wear or gender — rape is rape and victims should be given justice!]

"Masalimuot Patungo sa Tunay na Kaligayahan"(Tula) This is a "show not tell" poem, which I dedicated to my father who is now in heaven.
The World of Advertising With the prominence of continuously innovating technologies and its algorithms, growth of advertising expenditure was fuelled primarily by digital transformation, as stated by Eileen Yu on her article, it is where advertisers were investing in technology and data to enhance their relationships with consumers. Revenue shifts from traditional channels to their digital counterparts particularly on broadcast and digital out-of-home. Since, digital platforms are very convenient in reaching consumers. According to the Datareportal, that there are 3.96 billion people across the planet use social media today, equating to almost 51 percent of the total global population. No doubt that these sectors will use social media and other digital platforms to get their target consumers. Now, seeing the growth of ad spend from 2017-2020, USA still tops the global market with almost USD$20bn additional ad spend from 2017's. Moreover, the report says that there was an upward revision, from Zenith's growth forecast of 4.1%, which it attributed to surprise upsticks in several markets like Philippines, which is now among the top 10 new ad spend contributors. China on the other hand, with 22% of ad expenditure and would be the second-largest contributor next to US with 26%. According to Zenith's projections, it added that global ad dollars would climb by USD$77bn over the next three years with 2018 projected to see a 4.6% growth by year end. Digital's impact on the growth of ad spend is surprising and promising to the market sectors. These growth in ad spending has an auspicious outcome to the industries' revenue with also the help of their strong online ad sales. Like in China, with a reported 43% climb in revenue and accounted for 65% of Tencent's total revenue. A company can't stand longer without advertisements of their products and services, it's morelike a nutrient for the company to live and grow, which is why through the continuous development and success in technology enhancement, these companies probably find their great opportunity to connect and communicate effectively with their target mass audiences and consumers, shifting themselves from spending too much on ads posted in traditional platforms. Considering the number of social media users globally with up to 3.96 billion as of July 2020 and still rapidly increasing (Global Social Media Overview, n.d.). The reasons why companies are shifting from traditional platforms and reassuring themselves to digital marketing — a marketing strategy which veers away from what we are used to, such as print ads, large billboards ads, TV commercials, and radio advertisements because of their obvious advantages. Primarily is the cost-effectiveness of these digital media sites. In the article, Digital Marketing in the Philippines, that the cost of advertising through digital media is a lot cheaper compared to traditional tri-media advertising. Wherein a billboard leased in EDSA can cost P300,000 to P500,000 per month. A 30-second TV commercial can cost P500,000 to P800,000 in fact, about 4 to 20 billion pesos was spent by some big companies yearly on tv ads alone and a small image ad in a local newspaper would cost about P20,000 to P50,000. Whereas, for P500 the producers can reach as high as 120,000 consumers, a very large amount of money will be saved or can still make a lot of advertisements online. It also added that digital marketing may be very cheap yet effective, with a well planned content, it can gain good engagement and reach all your target market. Target audience is their priority, to reach higher audiences and consumers as possible as they can, so with digital media marketing the producer can also engage with their consumers by getting their age group, gender, job title, location, interest, device, etc., (Digital Marketing in the Philippines, n.d.). In another report, The Digital Marketing in the Philippines 2019, there were two factors triggering the popularity of advertisements on social media. The development of ad blockers, it prevents display ads from disturbing the consumers' browsing experience. Another is the Filipinos' acceptance and trust of brands online with 59% of Filipinos are connected according to Kantar's Study. (The Marketing Samurai, 2019). Therefore, to sum up, the vitality of a company to continuously thriving always came from how effective was their advertisements on the products and services to their target costumers that products are made to serve people’s needs and digital marketing lets consumers know about these products and since it is where they'll be able to show off their products. Moreover, the success of companies have an specific impact to an specific country that will also be reflected to the global economy or the country"s economic status. The higher the profit they will have, the better the economy a country will also have.

[un]Fun Time This is one of the things that we cannot do because of COVID-19. Having fun in carnivals and doing nonstop dances with random fellas. Coronavirus took our joy and freedom. It gives us chills whenever hundreds or thousands of people get infected by the virus, daily. How are we supposed to suppress this virus? How are we going to live normally as what we are used to live before? I know everyone of us misses the old shits we do before. Yet, let's all pray and hope that we can get through all of these together! 🙏

The Demon Within I was nearly forlorn in an unsolvable battle of emotions within I was lost in an endless black painted room of my own deed I didn't mean it! I wasn't in control over it The demon, yes, the demon did these! I was repressed by the demons I created. I am not so good with writing poems but I hope you like it. I am willing to accept suggestions and critiques too. Thank you :))
Life is about Survival Maybe if I were to ask you right here, right now that if you would be given a chance to choose. Would you rather choose no struggle, no hard work or challenges than struggling? Perhaps some of you may say that is it better to accept that you are weak, than pretend to be brave in facing life's troubles. A life without struggle is probably an easy and ideal choice. Who wouldn't want to live without constant worrying about tomorrow? Who wouldn't want to exist without feeling pain and sorrow? Certainly not me. My life consists of daily rounds of stumbling down, falling on my knees, resting then I force my self to stand up. Every single day, I feel so tired even after waking up. Sleep doesn't provide comfort, for it shows me my nightmares. I can never rest easy knowing that the next day, I would still be facing the same demons I faced yesterday. Seems to me that me being in this world is just ameaningless existence, not really living at all. The things I used to love has suddenlu lost its value and appeal in my eyes. How am I suppose to live like this for the rest of my life? Family is supposed to be your reinforcement towards the problems you are facing but it's just so hard to share to them because probably you already have this anxiety that maybe instead of helping you out they would tell you things that will make you feel so burdened. Life should not end that way because those struggles we faced, we are facing and we are about to face are those which makes us grow, develop our strength by resisting to it and of course let's not forget that through our journey let's accompany it with prayers. Psalm 37:4, "Take delight in the Lord and he will give you desires in your heart."
Movie Analysis: All the President’s Men Without verification of the sources it would be strenuous for the reporters to do their job as they pursue their desire to scrupulously expose the corruption, no matter how overwhelming a journalist’s story has if the sources and witnesses or the persons involved will always go “off the record” although it is their right to hide themselves for security reasons, yet the story would be perceived far-fetched and rubbish since they can’t use the testimonies nor the information they acquired from the “anonymous sources” because the context would be considered malicious. This is the greatest dilemma that the two leading characters, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein in the movie All the President’s Men, are facing. Aside from that were the threats and surveillances they were bravely bearing. As journalists especially when you’re doing investigative reports, it is possible to normalize threats as part of the job, because as what Sheila Coronel accentuate that the role of media is to ferret out the truth, monitors the powers, expose excesses and corruption and holding those in power accountable. In this context, media as a watchdog is expected to bark and bite. All the President’s Men, is an investigative and non-fiction film following the chain towards the uncovering of truth by the two persevering journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein of the Washington Post as they crack up a deeper and a complex story on a simple break in at Watergate complex. Both applied strategic journalistic skills intelligently. The production of the story, in my observation, is much concerned on the “process” on how the characters deal with all the conflicts ꟷ what were the challenges they faced and what are the steps or journalistic strategies they made? And obviously the director is less concerned with the result that is why it is observable that from the beginning until the movie ends, the two journalists, Bob and Carl, were doing the processes of investigating a burglary and yet as they go in-depth it lead them all the way to a sophisticated corruption inside the White House, involving the powerful persons in the US in that present administration including the President himself, Richard Nixon. The story started when Bob Woodward as relatively reporting on conventional stories, but this time around it is in his great surprise when he stumbled at a historic political issue and was able to make a story about it. He was assigned to do a report on the burglars that were arrested, he attended the arraignment and there he started to discover an astounding discovery, when someone from the burglars affirmed himself that he formerly works in the CIA. Driven by curiosity, he started to frame theory that there were other persons involved when he is interviewing a dubious attorney named Mark who’s also in the court. Meanwhile, he received a tip that there were names and numbers found in the address books of two of the burglars, there he started to investigate the persons whom he found out they are possibly linked in to the Watergate scandal. It is fortunate for him that he has a senior editor who is knowledgeable enough that can be asked and guide him especially about the profile of the influential personalities. Despite the fact that Woodward and Bernstein have really diverse personality, they were able to make a good tandem as their field called upon their professional ego. Woodward and Bernstein found the importance of searching on to the related articles, events and other means possible not only the primary sources but even secondary sources. Another is I don’t see any problem on etiquette they were showing since they were both very ethical on asking questions, also every time they are interviewing someone they take note of the information they acquire and even the expressions and emotions of the interviewees like what Bob Woodward did. He uses directories and photos to find and contact people, he is very observant and relentlessly searching up the sources and talk about their knowledge on what was happening. Bernstein used his sensible persuasion in interviewing like what he did in interviewing Sharon Lyons who works in Colson’s office, it’s funny but he definitely uses his charm to attract the woman just to get some information he was able to get them too but the next thing happened is everyone is like dodging the investigation, concealing the information which is really expected in any investigations, so they went to the Library of Congress to look for the books’ Howard Hunt used to investigate Kennedy however the transactions were subject into confidentiality so they get what were available and they got the bunch of requests from the whole year of 1971 and checked it one-by-one yet they failed to get what they want and most probably it’s been hidden. Moreover, their EIC Bradlee is pressing them up to get more verified information from credible sources because again they’re having struggles on persuading the sources to confirm and reveal themselves, it also came to the point that they’ve been door-slammed by people who are in the list of Committee to Re-elect. “Deep Throat” a whistle blower who remains himself hidden all throughout, gives an adequate information however cannot be inveterate to be credible source as they only know him as a “garage freak” who knows a deep background on politics. Competition is tough then against New York Times so they need to work harder to surpass their competitor and Bradlee’s imperatives squeezing them to their limit helped them a lot tooꟷ that is to aim accuracy and reliability. In the end, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein were able to unleash the corruption that was perpetrated in a long time. The President’s five men involved together with other persons involved in the corruption were convicted and Nixon resigned on his post. Altogether, I have learned that the relationship between a writer and the editor is really very important to achieve what is the news organization’s goal because a flawed relationship between them would result a flawed article. Investigative journalism should be taken seriously, it is not very easy to enter and get out of the situation ― once you’re in there you should be fully equipped to face the possibilities that will come through your path especially when you’re life would be jeopardized. “Zechariah 8:16, these are the things you shall do: Speak the truth to one another; render in your gates judgments that are true to make for peace.”
