Teenage Pregnancy and Dangers of an Abortion
Over the years, it has been reported that one of the reasons for the rising female mortality rate, is the horrifying crisis of teenage pregnancy and abortion. It has also been widely considered to be Increasingly popular and slowly becoming a norm among young adults. Whilst fruitfulness is important in growing any country’s economy, it is highly necessary to curb the growing menace of teenage pregnancy and abortion to ensure a society of people ridden of vices that grow as a result of parental and societal negligence.
Teenage pregnancy can be said to be the presence of a growing embryo in the womb of a teenager ( a person between the ages of 12 to 19) as a result of premarital sexual intercourse with the opposite sex. Whilst this act is frowned upon by the society, there is seemingly little or nothing being done to curb this rising menace. Abortion on the other hand, refers to the removal or eviction of a growing embryo in a female’s body. Abortion is medically and legally frowned upon. Only quacks and incompetent nurses engage in this dubious act in secret and because of the lack of knowledge of this people, death has always been a resultant effect.
Between the ages of 12-19, the body is considered to still be in its development stage and hasn’t fully developed the capacity to grow or shelter a baby. Since the body isn’t mature enough, pregnancy stretches the body beyond its limits and can cause harmful effects. For instance, popular among children and young adult is Visico Vaginal fistula; a tear from the vagina to the urethra during childbirth. This causes urine leakage and thereby isolation of the victim due to the unbearable stench that follows this disorder. It is however correctible by expensive surgeries performed by competent doctors .
Many teenagers do not possess the means, psychologically, financially and emotionally to adequately train up a child hence, teenage pregnancy leads to filling our streets with thugs and beggars causing nuisance to normal living. Teenage pregnancy also allows for moral decadence amongst people in the society. Sexual immorality nowadays, seems to be gaining grounds amongst people and all hands must be on deck to put a stop to this growing menace. Teenagers who fall prey to teenage pregnancy suffer their dreams being thwarted. Those whose dream is to become someone significant in life, end up at low levels due to the harsh reality of teenage pregnancy. According to personal research, five out of ten teenagers fall prey to teenage pregnancy. Many factors contribute to the vulnerability of young adults to teenage pregnancy. Some of these factors are;
Lack of self-control
Inadequate or no sex education
Parental and societal negligence
Peer influence
Hormone rush
All these and many more contribute to the rising number of teenage pregnancy which later results to an abortion. Many teenagers, after falling pregnant, results to abortion as a life line. However, what seems to them as a life line is actually a death and destruction agent with 70/30 chances of survival. Abortion has many effect, some of these effects are:
Psychological trauma
Destruction of the womb
Barrenness
Internal bodily disorder
Abstinence is a widely advised elixir to teenage pregnancy and abortion. Every teenager should understand that there are seasons in life.
The best advice is to stay motivated on your goals and ambition. Chastity is never going out of Vogue. Ensure self-control and keep on your mark.
