Gastritis,A disease that takes over us every day...!!!
Why it occurs? What symptoms does it give? What is there to do? Can it be cured when it is chronic? The questions we always ask ourselves.
Gastritis is inflammation of the stomach, which can be acute, that is, it occurs suddenly and heals in a few days, or chronic, when it does so slowly and persistently.
Acute can be produced by a copious food, poorly chewed, rich in spices or fat, but, in these cases, it is often doubtful that it is true gastritis and it can only be indigestion. Another reason may be the excess of alcoholic beverages and also some medications, especially antiinflammatories, among which is "aspirin".
Chronic can be a consequence of these same factors when they are persistent and, in addition, excessive smoking. But there are two other causes, one is infection by a microbe, Helicobacter pylori, which is also related to gastroduodenal ulcer and although it is found in most people, it does not always cause disease; and the other is due to defensive substances in the body that attack stomach cells, making it difficult for vitamin B12 to be used and a kind of anemia occurs. Both acute and chronic gastritis can be caused by other stomach diseases or even some general ones.
After some of the aforementioned antecedents, in the acute one, heaviness appears in the upper part of the belly, nausea, vomiting, foul-smelling belching, a very white tongue, headache and sometimes diarrhea and a little fever.
There is a form that produces erosions in the mucosa of the stomach, causing bleeding and usually appears due to anti-inflammatories or in very serious patients due to general infections, extensive burns or trauma. Chronic symptoms produce not very conspicuous symptoms, which, in addition, can be due to other causes, so the doctor must rule them out, and consist of heavy digestion, flatulence, lack of appetite, bad breath and sometimes burning.
What to do in acute gastritis, for 12-24 hours, you should only drink water, infusions of tea or chamomile and, if necessary, some medicine against vomiting. Afterwards, you can eat bread, oatmeal or rice soups and, depending on the improvement, purees, white fish or lean meat are added, first boiled and later grilled; and you can also take boiled apple. In the chronic, you have to eat small and frequent meals, chew well, it is convenient that the food is soft and boiled, grilled or baked, you have to avoid spices, fats, alcohol and tobacco. In addition, no medication should be taken without a doctor's indication.
It can be cured when the alterations are not very advanced and its cause can be suppressed, such as the bad habits that we have indicated, the taking of anti-inflammatories or the infection by the microbe that we have said, since there are very effective treatments to eliminate it.
There is a lot of misinformation on this issue and there are no solid scientific bases to justify it, but it is of the utmost importance to take into account this terrible and painful disease. Take care of yourself
