Bridgestone collaborated with Volkswagen, its longtime partner, to make its innovative light tire technology available for the new ID.3, the automaker's all-electric vehicle. Environmentally friendly ENLITEN technology allows tires to have super low rolling resistance and requires less material creation, being applied by Bridgestone for the first time on Turanza Eco tires, specially designed for ID.3. Created to bring the benefits of electric mobility to more and more daily drivers, the long-awaited ID.3 is Volkswagen's first all-electric vehicle launched on the market. During the development of ID.3, Volkswagen sought a tire assembly that offered a high level of performance, both on wet and dry roads, good braking, long tire life and, most importantly, super low rolling resistance, saving fuel or, in this case, battery power from the ID.3, so Bridgestone developed a Turanza tire with ENLITEN technology, which has rolling resistance up to 30% less than a standard premium summer tire. By reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, you significantly increase battery life in an electric vehicle. The savings also come from a 20% reduction in tire weight compared to equivalent standard premium summer tires, meaning up to 2 kg less raw material resources for each tire.
In addition, there are the performance benefits of the technology ENLITEN. The synergy between the exclusive materials used to create the ENLITEN technology and a new mixing process has improved the wear performance of the compound of this technology, without compromising adherence. This, combined with a full 3D cavity design and pattern that maximizes wet performance and wear, means that ENLITEN technology improves vehicle handling to help increase driving pleasure and, in the case of ID.3, achieve all of Volkswagen's performance goals. The Turanza Eco tires with ENLITEN technology are available in Volkswagen's ID.3 in the 18, 19 and 20 inch variants. The 19-inch and 20-inch tires are equipped with Bridgestone's B-Seal technology, which ensures temporary air retention in the event of a puncture in the tread area, allowing the vehicle to continue moving.
