Obi Cubana Latest Update

Firstly, Obi Iyiegbu (born 12 April 1975), commonly known as Obi Cubana, is a Nigerian entrepreneur and businessman who chairs the Cubana Group.

So just yesterday, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) detained this celebrity, Obi Iyiegbu popularly known as Obi Cubana for accusations linking to his involvement in illegal narcotic drugs business.

Obi Cubana, who is the chairman of the Cubana group of companies which includes a host of hotels and nightclubs across several cities in Nigeria was detained and questioned for several hours before he was released to go and bring relevant documents and return at a later date.

Recent sources have shown that some suspicious payments were made into Obi Cubana's account by about three convicted drug dealers from Nigeria, India and Malaysia.

Just last year November, he was detained by the Economic and Finance Corruption Commission (EFCC) for three days so that they could investigate the allegations of money laundering, tax fraud and some other alleged financial crimes, he was later released on the basis that he would report back for occasionally questioning.

Now, just barely two months later, Cubana is once again under heavy scrutiny by both the EFCC and the NDLEA facing both allegations of both financial and drug crimes. There are suspicions that he may be a drug kingpin because some convicted drug dealers have paid funds into his account.

Sources from NDLEA stated that

"We have been able to establish three of such payments. One of the persons that paid money into his account was convicted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; another one that was convicted in New Delhi, India; also paid money into his account while a third person that was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and convicted in 2017, also paid money into Cubana’s account."

Ever since the event that occurred last year July, where Obi Cubana did a lavish funeral for his mother in Anambra State. An event that attracted highly popular artistes, entertainers, politicians and other socialites. The highlight of the event was the flamboyant display of wealth and the crazy donation of about 400 cows for just one funeral.

Almost immediately after this funeral, his celebrity status skyrocketed and has turned everyone's heads including law enforcement agencies.

Obi Cubana has been in the nightclub business since 2006, but he has kept a low profile until July, 2021. The saga continues and since he has chosen to put himself in the limelight, this wahala (meaning trouble in English) will not be ending anytime soon until the source of his wealth is ascertained by the government authorities.

At the very same time this could be just another pointless harassment by the authorities, who could just be making up false accusations against Obi Cubana in a bid to frustrate his business. After all this is Nigeria, the old men at the top (president Buhari, politicians and co) does not want the younger ones to grow more than them.

In other news, we all know that twitter has been unlocked. Many suspects that it's due to the oncoming election. Anyway since that one has been cleared all we need to do is hope and pray that the Crypto ban in Nigeria is removed properly.
