Before I delve into the main thing concern the topic, permit me to use this medium to apologize to all my friends and the entire family of Read cash for my inability to be active yesterday (Thursday). I was only able to make posts and that was when work took over my entire day but I have managed to visit as many posts as I can today and for those, I was unable to drop a comment on their posts, please find it in your heart to forgive my absence it was beyond my control. One thing I have never failed to do is to always reward quality posts through upvotes and where necessary tips. Thank you for your unflinching love for Davinchysax you good friend, I love you all.

Having said that, let us go straight into the business of the day. I will like to plead with you to carefully read this article because what I am about to say is the major reason why poverty has refused to leave our society and if we do not do something very fast, we may not be able to win the war against poverty.

The Painful Truth

Most times we think that poverty is just for those who are leaving in developing countries but I tell you, the number of poor people living in the western world and Americas is as high as you can never imagine. But as always, the media is used to make it look as if there are no poor people in these countries. Each time poverty is mentioned, Africa comes to mind due to the height of media publicity that has made it so common for all to see.

I will not try to explain what poverty means because I believe that anyone who cannot enjoy three square meals in a day is poor not minding the country of residence. I have been looking deep into what could be the cause of poverty in any society and I came to understand that poverty happens when a society does not speak up against the bad government. It may sound different to you but I would plead with you to focus on what I am about to say from now on. For the sake of clarity, I will use Nigeria and Africa as a case study for me to be able to drive home the point I want to make. In Nigeria, there is a great economic depreciation which I believe that most of you who are not Nigerians must have seen or noticed. Currently, the Nigerian Fiat goes for 530 naira and above for one US dollar. Now, it was not like this before now, but due to bad governance and people’s lackadaisical attitude, poverty is now on the increase.

How can we win the war against Poverty?

Most times we make the mistake of thinking that for a society to win the war against poverty it will have to dish out money to its citizens. Such an idea will not only sustain poverty but will reduce the economy of such a society. The question is; how do we win the war against poverty? The only thing that can eradicate poverty in a society is the people. How can this be? Let us look at a society where its government has failed and the people are busy talking but not taking any serious action towards removing such government from power, no matter how and what they say against the government, poverty will still be a vital part of such a society.

Just last week I went to a petrol station to purchase some litres of petrol for the night due to the epileptic method energy supply which we have been witnessing for so long in the country. I was noticed that a litre was sold at 165 naira ( a little below 0.20 USD) but lo and behold, I went back to the same petrol station just 3 days ago only for me to find out that a litre of petrol is now selling at 230 naira ( 0.35).

This is where the government has succeeded in caging everyone in the country. With this increase in the price of petrol, motorists and transporters have hiked the price of transport fare not minding the distance they will cover. Now, places, where transporters were collecting 100 naira (0.15 USD) as transport fare, has increased to 200 to 250 naira (0.30 to 0.36). The transporters did not know that what they have done by increasing the prices of transport fare has a serious ripple effect which will return to them. Now, imagine a transporter whose wife has gone to the market to buy foodstuffs with the money she got from the husband who increased the transport fare, now the effect is that the market woman who has paid more than she used to pay for her transport fare will also add it up in the prices of goods thereby making the money of the transporters wife almost impossible to buy what it would have bought on a normal day.

This is the only thing that has kept societies into serious poverty and they will never come out of it unless the populace decides to fight against the bad government and their policies. If there is an increase in petrol, instead of the transporters taking it out on the innocent citizens, what they should do as a registered association under the government is to either go on a general protest or embarking on industrial action. This is the difference between countries that have understood how to fight poverty and those countries that have individualized poverty i.e. a poor man is poor because he wants or chose to be poor.

I am not going to bore you so much because I believe I have been able to make my points very clear and simple for all to understand. Let us look at our economic problems, not as individuals but collectively in other to hold any ailing government accountable at all times.

Thank you for reading and I believe that I have been able to pass across my message to you.

Problems like this one has been roaming around in tge society for how many decades now but it seems they didn't find the perfect solution for it..those who are in the goverment...Once they stepped their foot in politics ...I know that money will make them blind and to do thing benefiting their personal interest ..who's suffering from that selfish actions..the innocent ones.. that's why even if those innocent people try to step out of their current situation they can't because the wall that hinders them becomes more taller and taller.. Our minimuw wage here in the provinve is just around $3 to 6 ...your lucky if it's $10 but that kind of amount is not enough..if the prizes of our daily needs keep on increasing...

Your reality is not different from ours, our currency is devaluating every day, we are a poor rich country, we have oil deposits, mining of precious stones, gold, iron, aluminum, calcium, a bankrupt iron and steel industry, but few people who keep all the money. To buy gasoline is 2 or more days in line, we have 2 gasoline prices, an international one at 1$ a liter. The minimum wage is less than 2$ per month. The pantries in the supermarkets are full of food at international prices in dollars, but we buy with Bolivares, also the food has 2 prices, one in cash and one with debit card, it is more expensive with the card. To have cash the queues are hours long and you can only charge very little at the bank, you prefer to use the debit card even if you pay more for the same item. Next month 5.000.000 Bolivares will become 50 Bolivares, they will remove 5 zeros from the currency, they have already removed 6 zeros. Every day we are poorer with so much wealth around us.

It is very crazy how our leaders become so selfish even to the point of not seeing the pains their citizens are suffering. We will surely survive.

I've said it many times and I think things are beginning to become clear to everyone now and that is, the government are ruling us with poverty mentality. They want to keep people impoverished so they can easily cajole them with money. See how many people would risk their lives to loot during elections all for 5,000 naira? Or given 500 naira just to vote for a candidate? That's why they are also against Crypto because it's a sign of freedom for the youth and they want to make use of the youth for their evil purposes. It's crazy how the son of a king eats bone. We produce oil and yet we are buying at ridiculous prices.

The worst part of it is that they have succeeded in dividing us and even making us enemies amongst ourselves.

Same here in Northern Ireland and much worst in the UK the price of petrol keeps changing beating its ATH. My husband is complaining about it. £1.31/litre it came down to £.99 during the lockdown. This is the highest we've had in Northern Ireland. It just up 10p more. Ridiculous! How can a family keep up with this, I do not know? 😔
