Realities of Virtual Learning

Due to the pandemic that occured the world recently, many activities were restricted and physical learning was one of them and most schools had to devise means to continue teaching and accessing their students. And they had to result in virtual learning which has various advantages and disadvantages.

The first advantage of virtual learning is that learning has been made easy because students can learn from the comfort of their homes and also access learning materials from the school portal at any time. Also, virtual lectures can be recorded and referenced anytime needed

Moreover, students have been able to acquire some computer skills because most of the assignments given require the use of computers as they involve typing, scanning, and sending of emails to lecturers which in the process, some students acquire knowledge in those aspects.

Furthermore, the virtual system of learning in the university has helped students build a friendly relationship amongst themselves as they have to create chat groups on social media to pass information and also study together which increases their teamwork skills.

As there are so many advantages of virtual learning in schools, there’s also a lot of disadvantages. One disadvantage is the effect of excess screen time on the students which can lead to eye defects.

Another disadvantage is that there’s a lot of expenditure involved in setting up and attending a virtual class as students and lecturers have to purchase cellular data to host and participate in a virtual lecture.

Lastly, virtual learning has reduced student’s physical activities and leaves them in front of their computer screens to learn what they’ve signed up for.

In conclusion, the virtual learning system has both advantages and disadvantages but it’s an effective method of learning that can help develop a student’s performance. The important thing is proper time management to meet deadlines.
