Holy Week is the week before Easter Sunday. It begins with Palm Sunday, another day of joy for Christians. On Palm Sunday the faithful go to church with palms. The palms remind Christians of the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into erusalem. There, a few days before his death, he was hailed as a king. The joyous crowd that came to meet him clapped palms over the place where he was to pass, and waving palms welcomed him.

The Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Holy Week do not have special names. Thursday is called Holy Thursday. The Greeks call "Great Friday" Good Friday, and in English-speaking countries it is given the name "Good Friday to remember the good, "all the good that Jesus Christ did for men.

Why do Christians celebrate Easter?

 El lunes, el martes y el miércoles de Semana Santa no tienen nombres especiales. El jueves se llama Jueves Santo. El Jueves Santo nos trae el recuerdo de la Ultima Cena, en la que Jesucristo introdujo la Sagrada Comunión. Jesucristo y sus discípulos sus seguidores más cercanos eran todos judíos y celebraban, por lo tanto, la Pascua Judía. La Última Cena fue una comida de celebración de la Pascua Judía que Jesucristo ofreció a sus discípulos.

 El Viernes Santo es para los cristianos el día más triste del año. El viernes Santo los cristianos recuerdan la crucifixión y el entierro de Jesucristo. Los griegos llaman Gran Viernes" al Viernes Santo, y en los países de habla inglesa se le da el nombre de "Buen Viernes para recordar el bien, "todo lo bueno que Jesucristo hizo por los hombres.

La Pascua es el día más feliz y más importante para los cristianos. El día de Pascua los cristianos celebran su creencia en la resurrección de Jesucristo el tercer día de su crucifixión. Resurrección significa alzarse de entre los muertos. Crucifixión  es el acto de “poner a alguien en la cruz  para  que muera”.

La  religión enseña que la resurrección de Jesucristo es una gran victoria sobre la muerte. Significa una nueva y  eterna vida para todos los que creen en Jesucristo

Porque la Pascua se celebraba en otro tiempo según el antiguo calendario judío; no según el calendario romano, que es el que se usa hoy día. La Pascua cae siempre en domingo. Y puede venir tan temprano como el 22 de marzo o tan tarde como el 25 de abril.
