Over 167,000 infections with the corona virus have been registered in Germany by Thursday evening (previous day at 8:15 p.m .: more than 165,900 infections). At least 7196 infected with the pathogen Sars-CoV-2 have reportedly died nationwide so far (previous day at 8:15 p.m .: 7092). This is the result of an evaluation by the German Press Agency, which takes into account the latest figures from the federal states.

According to estimates by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the number of reproductions as of Thursday was 0.71 (previous day: 0.65). This means that ten infected people infect around seven other people.

According to RKI estimates, around 139,900 people in Germany survived the infection. As for other countries, experts also expect a high number of unreported cases in Germany.

In Germany, a district currently exceeds the number of infections regarded by the federal and state governments as an upper limit. According to data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI; as of May 7, midnight), the Greiz district in Thuringia registered 80.5 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days. From 50 such infections, circles should immediately implement a consistent restriction concept.

According to the statistics of the federal states, Bavaria has particularly high numbers of registered infections with more than 44,000 proven cases and at least 2071 deaths, North Rhine-Westphalia with more than 34,200 cases and at least 1371 deaths and Baden-Württemberg with more than 32,800 confirmed cases and at least 1517 dead. The time when a new daily status is reported varies from state to state.
