Hey there mates. This article aims at boosting your work efficiency with the help of Pomodoro technique. Now many of you might be thinking what it actually is?. Pomodoro(Italian for tomato) is a time management technique. In this, we break down our work in time intervals and then accomplish the whole task in separate intervals.
HOW IT IS DONE?
Break down your big work in smaller tasks.
Pick first task and set a 25 minutes timer.
Focus on that task for next 25 minutes and try to avoid interruptions as much as possible. Like : don't check your phone, avoid taking calls if it is avoidable etc.
After 25 minutes, take a small break for 5 minutes.
Once 4 Pomodoro are complete, take a big break of 15-30 minutes.
Working on your task for 25 minutes consistently makes you more focused and productive and the break helps in countering the case when you feel overworked and then focus drops.
Here is the link to a Pomodoro timer I found online and you can use it in case you want https://pomofocus.io/. There are other timers also which perform similar task.
You need to take care of the thing that Pomodoro can't be broken. Once you set the timer, you should focus till it goes of. It is an unbreakable rule and you should keep it very clear in mind. Especially for texts, unimportant calls or social media and you domestic chores should be avoided for that time if possible.
Preparations:
Make a todo list. If its a bigger job, you should keep it segmented for different time intervals. You can use digital todo list apps or pen paper, whatever suits you.
If you have smaller tasks which take less than a Pomodoro then you should group as many of them together as required to consume a Pomodoro.
If you get down some minutes before then you can explore that topic more as over studying something will bring more clarity anyways.
You can keep some very small or overlearning tasks in handy in case you complete a task before a Pomodoro and then can go through them.
Advantages of using Pomodoro:
You will be more focused and the intervals will help you in not getting exhausted.
Its better than working on a task for hours and then feeling exhausted, overworked and stopping it right away. Also, if you work on a task for hours one day then you will feel saturated and tend to not work at all the next day.
You will learn strategic planning to accomplish complex tasks.
Those who struggle with focusing on their jobs can try this strictly and I wish good luck for their results.
