An Ordeal
"Families won't agree", these were their parting words when they met last evening. It's been two days since they had this most intense conversation of their love life so far. They have known each other for so long now that it feels like eternity but never had to face this much of difficulty in reaching a conclusion ever. But this time, conclusion doesn't seems to exist.
To him, her eyes seemed unfathomable and to her, his manly gaze wasn't so confident this time. Love seemed to be defeated and both of them disheartened. They have come a long long way. They can't love again as it would be betrayal to their own souls. They don't wanna trust anyone again as it is very clear, its not gonna be the same. But they can't just accept it? All the promises they made to each other, tended each other more than themselves, the glory they always celebrated in having each other how can they accept all of it to be taken away. At this point they are not ready to face the dejection of their dreams fading, of their hearts shattering.
How the things went on the "eve of gloominess" is giving them shivers. They were both sighing, how things turned out to be at their houses was a mess after all. Caste compatibility, society, opinion clash and desperate attempts at tainting lovely memories of their togetherness by accusing them about wasting their time in place of studying and working on themselves being the major highlights at both the sides. Mother & father are shook by the news and have attained a harsh note to tackle the imprudent choices of their offspring. All of it broke them at the very confrontation about their love with their bloodily love, their family.
Arranged marriage is the word they have most hatred for now and back at home also, nobody is acknowledging them like it was back in the days. They are barely talking over phone or chats as they still remember the downpour they witnessed two days back, his eyes damp & watery like a sparky burning fire being extinguished by crystals flowing down her cheek. Both of them couldn't see eyes in eyes which was there favorite ritual since the day arrived.
For now, they are committed to their old plan : "Either you or no one". They don't wanna bring it up again for time being and they are pretending to live a normal life with a statement that they won't agree to marry anyone but it's always like a iron rod dug deep in their hearts. The question prevalent in both minds, why is the bird as free as love being caged for stereotypes but seems like it's also unexplanatory as the love itself.
They continue on living with the burden on their souls, unacceptance by their very guardians whom they always admired and held in high regards like those for GODS but this time even their GODS can't get their wish fulfilled for their own reasons. It's hard and harsh for them as neither the power of upbringing can be nullified when they respect it like anything nor the heart could function properly as the one who was the reason for healthy pump is missing. They face guilt because their families and partners both have been let down. Good old days now getting faded and loneliness haunts to the cores.
Waiting for approval, dying in darkness inside but still rebels at the very intellect, they continue to live being separated in hope for the parted roads to meet somewhere. Maybe they will resume talking in a day or two as the lost trust on parental side is a untended wound yet which they need to take care of for each other. Their story was supposed to echo but the wheel of time turned against them like a calamity.
This article is intended to highlight the practice of ignoring love and pushing arrange marriage on young couple prevailing in many cultures where they don't even get a chance to be considered. Also an appeal to elder audience here, test the bond and compatibility first as it's them after all who are to promise themselves for lifetime to anyone. It's better to give a chance always, sweetness of bloodily relations is in trusting your loved ones and who knows, maybe they have perfect choice already for both themselves and the families
Hope you liked it.
