We Are Part of a His Family
“Put on therefore, as God's elect, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;”
Colossians 3:12 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/col.3.12.RV1895
Today’s verse brings to light the fact that we different than other people. We are God’s people. We should separate ourselves from others. Not by location, not by clothing, jewelry, food, physical alterations, or any other meaningless method that anyone can buy or do.
Let’s separate ourselves by holding the values that our Lord asks us to have. The verse says that we should have a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and longsuffering.
Is that all we need to do? I think not for two reasons. First it’s not a “need”. We should want to emulate our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Second, there are so many other traits that we should have as followers of Christ. We should love our neighbors. We should forgive and forget. Furthermore, we should treat others as we want to be treated. We should want to love the Lord with all our heart, mind, and soul.
How do these behaviors ourselves and help us to stand out?
These behaviors are the opposite of those that pursue the material world and the world of pleasure.
For me nothing is worse that seeing someone that is “Christian” talking trash. Nothing is worse than celebrities saying that they are followers of Christ and then behaving in a way that is horrible. Nothing is worse than politicians saying that they love Christ with all their hearts, but can’t use His Divine wisdom to make better
choices.
Rest assured, this separation is not permanent, yet. Those that wear a Christian name tag and not the love Of Christ can change. Anyone can join this wonderful family.
I ask everyone reading to pray for those that are lost or have no interest in joining. For our Lord loves them all and are ready to forgive them. We are members of the best family.
