Thoughts of Peace

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.”

Today’s verse comes from a very difficult time for God’s people. They are in exile. He tells them to have faith that He knows what he is doing.

Just like the people in exile, we can have trouble seeing the divine path that we are on. It’s hard to imagine how this terrible situation that we are in can help us in any way. It might seem that all is lost and Good has forgotten us.

Fortunately, nothing could be farther from the truth. He does have a divine path for us. We may think it isn’t a good one. We might even feel it is a horrible experience or laced with evil. When we do, we need to trust in the Lord.

When I get down and feel like all is lost, I read the accounts of exile in the Bible. God’s plan is good and full of love. But sometimes it differs from what we want.
