Thanksgiving

“I will give thanks unto the LORD with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.”

Today’s verse really strikes a chord with me. Giving thanks is so important, but sometimes it gets taken for granted. This is especially true when we say the words but not the feelings. Nothing is worse than an empty “thank you”.

All too often, this is the way we treat the Lord. If we truly wanted to give thanks to the Lord for all the good He has given us, it would take days on end. Even just thanking for the bodily functions that work is a chore.

Usually we only draw our attention to the Lord in time of need or dire straits. We seldom give thanks for all the good things we have in our lives.

Today is the US Thanksgiving day. I’m out of the country and in Taiwan. The Turkey, traditions, family and friends, are all not available to me. But I take joy in thanking the Lord for all the wonderful things that He has given me, big and small.
