Righteous
“Righteousness guardeth him that is upright in the way: But wickedness overthroweth the sinner.”

What a powerful verse we have today from the book of proverbs. Proverbs are always full of wisdom that we should take into our life and consider how our lives works be different if we did things based on our love for God instead of the love of us.
What is righteousness. Basically it means walking right with God. Putting Him and His will first. If we trust in Him, then we can accept the things that happen to us that we don’t want. Can we put Him first and take the pain?
Sometimes it’s hard to be committed or married. It’s a struggle at times. But for me, it’s the place where I can strive to be righteous with Him in little things. Big things get more attention, but the little things are the ones that really drive me crazy. Sometimes we have to do our duty for our family, and it might be painful.
Yesterday, I spanked my son for his school attitude. I have him many chances, but he wouldn’t listen. It would be easy for me to ignore and more pleasant. But I knew I had a duty as a father and husband. I knew in the long run, this would help him. But it was very painful indeed. Afterwards I felt terrible because I had horrible memories of being beaten by my father. But I understand the reasons now and hope he will one day .
Keep this verse in your heart. Keep it in your actions. If you have a relationship that is having trouble, be righteous and do what is right in the sight of the Lord.
