Overcome evil with good

“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”

Today’s verse is one of those verses that shows off the supernatural power and ideology of Christ.

It is so animalistic and natural to repay evil with violence. It almost seems the logical response. However, it’s not what we are called to do. We might need violence to stop a violent act, but we shouldn’t seek revenge or retribution.

This practice is a supernatural. It transcends the natural world for no other animal would abide by it. We have been gifted with the power of prayer and the ability to choose to live our life in the way Christ did.
