Romans 15:4

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that by steadfastness and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.

Today's verse reminds us how similar we are to the people of the past that experienced scripture firsthand. Even though we are separated by millennia, we are not that different. The cycle of destruction that Isreal went through is very similar as the most common calls to the Lord are for help. Few are those who praise and worship regularly and daily.

When reading scripture, remember that even though it happened a very long time ago, it was written for us. When we read it, we should absorb it and focus on what it is meant to teach us. Scripture is alive and designed to be discovered and appreciated
