Living Sacrifice
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”
Romans 12:1 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/rom.12.1.RV1895
Today’s verse is like a mirror, encouraging us to look at our selves. This verse puts the ball in our court. But we really need to look at the previous verse Paul wrote to appreciate this one fully.
“For of him, and through him, and unto him, are all things. To him be the glory for ever. Amen.”
Romans 11:36 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/rom.11.36.RV1895
-What are we going to go to show the Lord our love? How are we going to be a living sacrifice? I like that he mentions a reasonable sacrifice acceptable to God.
This means that we don’t have to do anything to the extent that He did. All the sacrifices He did including the greatest sacrifice of all time. He loves us and didn’t want our sacrifice to be too terrible.
So let’s find something that we can do or get rid of. Something in our lives that we know we either don’t need, someone else needs, or just devote more time to worship and praise the Lord.
Certainly our lives are not so perfect that we can’t find something to offer the Lord on a daily basis.
