Forgiveness
“and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God also in Christ forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:32 RV1895 https://bible.com/bible/1922/eph.4.32.RV1895
Today’s verse shows us part of the supernatural quality that Christ wants us to emulate.
The natural world seldom sees forgiveness. Indeed, it’s a dog eat dog world. Why? They didn’t learn how to forgive. This is one reason the wild can be such a dangerous place. Its made for survivors.
Even in the Old Testament functioned under an eye for an eye mentality. Of course, there were exceptions for accidental incidents, but it was a dark time.
Then the light of the world came, Jesus Christ. He gave us commandments and rules not only for loving, but also forgiving.
Loving is a basic human trait that we apply to those close to us. He encouraged us to take it further.
Forgiveness, on the other hand, isn’t natural but supernatural. It’s a choice that can be quite hard to do. Surely, if the Lord can forgive me for all my transgressions, I can forgive others.
