Fan the Flames

“and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works; not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day drawing nigh.”

Today’s verse is all about being there for others and finding that spark in them. Then fan or provoke that spark into flames.

Sometimes it can be hard to be a follower of Christ. This seems so backwards because for most of the world religion is open and free. But it’s in that society where we can receive pressure or be ridiculed for what we believe. Even if you are convicted in your faith, it helps to have friends with similar beliefs and ideas.

We live in a very secular society. We are blessed daily with negative or self-loving media. It can be hard to take a stand. The ironic part is that we are all winners in the game of life, but the feeling can be difficult.

I especially dislike hate of others based on their denominations. Sometimes, I hear ridicule of other groups in my church, and other times I’m ridiculed. But we are one big family. That’s why it’s important to be there others.
