Dragon boat rice dumplings

Dragon boat festival is one of my favorite tones of the year. Not because of the boats- they get to much publicity and the holiday isn’t about them.

Anyway, it’s gotta be the FOOD! Am I right? It’s the time of year that chong zi are prepared. You can eat them year round, but they are always eaten on this fabulous holiday.

So what’s all the fuss? Basically these are made of glutenous rice. This is place in a bamboo leaf that is shaped like a cone. Then water chest nuts, braised pork, pickled vegetables, and peanuts are put in. Some more rice is put in Dragon boat festival is one of my favorite tones of the year. Not because of the boats- they get to much publicity and the holiday isn’t about them.

Then the leaf is folded around sealing the wonderment inside. Then it’s tied off with a string.
