Don’t Doubt
23 let us hold fast the confession of our hope that it waver not; for he is faithful that promised: (Hebrews 10:23 RV1895)
Today’s verse is one that should cause us to rejoice. I like reading the older version of the Bible because it’s more challenging, but I switch versions sometimes. Here’s a more modern version:
“Let us hold on firmly to the hope we profess, because we can trust God to keep his promise.”
Hebrews 10:23 GNBDK

Regardless of which you read, today we have something to rejoice about. God keeps his promises.
Sounds strange that we should rejoice in a good promise, but first of all, it’s a big and important promise! It’s a promise if His love for us and that will never change.
Second, we live with people who have trouble keeping promises. I would go as fast to say we are fed lies in the disguise of promises by people. The first example that comes to mind is politics. They promise everything just to be liked and become popular.
Some people don’t take promises literally. Look at all the broken relationships that were built on promises. As a teacher, my favorite example is promises to do homework, right? I wouldn’t say that most students purposely ignore the promise, I prefer to think they honestly forgot.
Whatever your experience with promises, have confidence and believe that the Lord will not break his promise. You are loved! You are saved!
