Illogical:Stress Increases Productivity According to Research

Hi everyone! It's your boy,Cryptoboy, and I'm about to take you through some interesting research results which makes no sense. We all get stressed and when we do we're not so pleasant to be around and it affects our over all output. What if I told you that stress can actually increase your efficiency, effectiveness and consequently your productivity? Maybe you don't believe me but you will believe a group of scientists who did s research and came out with data that backs this claim.

What Is Stress?

It is the natural response to any condition or stimulus which the body characterizes as stressful.Have you noticed that each tie you're in a stressful situation your heart rate increases as well as your blood pressure?Well that's because stressful situations cause the release of stress hormones ,which in turn activate our flight or fight response.Repeated stress might even send your heart racing fast towards a stroke.Nobody likes to be stressed. These findings I'm about to share will however change how you view stress.

The Research

A group of scientists conducted an experiment on how stress affects our productivity. They randomly chose students who were about to give a speech and divided them into two groups. In one group the students were told to embrace their stress and they were encouraged to see it in a positive light while the other group was told nothing. At the end of the speech the judges found that students who had been told to look at stress differently had more confidence and scored higher points. The same cannot be said about those from the other group who were left to their own fate.In a second study the researchers randomly selected students who were about to write their end of sem exam. Just like in the last experiment, students were divided into two groups. From the earlier experiment concerns were raised that the little speech could have actually decreased the stress level of the 'confidence'group and that could have been the reason for their good results. So for the second experiment stress levels of each student was measured. This is done using saliva samples of each person.Students of one group were told to embrace their stress and those of the other were left to their own devise.Stress levels didn't decrease for those who were asked to see stress in a good light;in fact for some it increased.Much to the surprise of the scientists students who had the 'little speech' did much better. And results show that higher stress levels were associated with higher performance for the group which had the speech. This could not be said for the other group. It must be noted that all students who were selected for the experiment had an almost equal average performance. So the results obtained from the experiment were not biased because some were more brilliant or top performers.

Stress is said to release adrenaline which increases speed and mind alertness. This in itself is enough for a good performance. However as with everything your outlook or state of mind concerning it can pretty much determine the outcome. So whether it's stress or a problem you're facing, perhaps some addictions or lack of money or something, always remember that the problem may not be the 'problem' but your state of mind. This whole experiment to me I think goes beyond stress. It hits mentality and perception. Maybe the reason that woman is so mean to you is because of how you see her in your mind. Maybe your kid isn't behaving well because you keep seeing and calling him a deviant. While I agree that not everything is caused by our perception,it doesn't hurt to have a more positive outlook on things and it definitely doesn't cost a thing. Now don't go telling the bank the reason you're owing them money is because of their perception hence they should start seeing you as debt free(you'll wind up in jail.... Seriously).

It's your boy cryptoboy and thank you for reading.
