Philippines has different mobile services providers that continuously giving good services to all Filipinos. It includes the top networks Globe Telecom, Smart Communication and the newly introduced provider DITO Telecommunity .
Filipinos are using different networks in every home. Some of them are using a certain network provider due to the good services and powerful connections they can give. Some are due to the affordable promos and/or subscriptions. In fact, you can find 2-3 mobile service provider in every Filipino family.
As what I have said, they using them with purposes. The problem is, these providers are not capable of having what the other providers has when it comes to promos, subscriptions and even conveniences. A Globe user can't easily send a messages to the Smart users and vice versa due to the network barriers.
Now, what if I tell you that we/you can now switch from one network to other? And the best part here is that, you can keep the old and the same mobile number to switch between networks. So is that possible? Yes!.. Of course, If you haven't know this yet. Continue to read and I will tell you more.
The Mobile Number Portability(MNP): What Is MNP?
Mobile number portability (MNP) is a service enabling cellphone customers to change carriers and retain the same telephone number.
Which means, if your bestfriends or girlfriend is using other network or carriers, you are now capable of using their carrier promos and the same network with wasting your old mobile numbers. This thing will break any barrier between networks and you can freely send your long sweet messages or call your loved ones without any problem.
Also in this way, Filipinos has the chance to choose their preferred network.
Atty. Adel Tamano the Treasurer of TCI and Chief Administrative Officer Of Dito Telecommunity said,
"Aside from encouraging healthier competitions among the players, the MNP also grants Filipinos the freedom to switch to their preferred mobile service provider seamlessly and conveniently,"
And that can really create a massive changes in each official release in this coming September 20,2021. In fact, the TCI General Manager Melanie Manuel is expecting one million subscribers to port out from one network and port in to another.
Important Things And Requirements To Follow Before You Can Switch From One Network To Another
Active Sim
Just make sure that your sim is still active. There is no age requirement for it as long as working and usable.
No balances or financial obligations in your sim
Just pay all your "utangs" from 3733 or 123 before porting. Peace..
No porting activity from the last 60 days
Jusy make sure that you haven't done porting before. If so, just make sure that you reached atleast more than 60 days before doing another switch.
No fraudulent activity records
Just make sure that your sim cards are not used to bad activities.
Types Of Porting
Network Users can choose between External Porting and Internal Porting.
Internal Porting is called if the user only switch services inside of its network. For instance, if a Globe Telco user switch from postpaid to prepaid and vice versa. While,
External Porting if a user transfered using the same number to other networks. For instance, a Globe Telco user switched to Smart Communication using the same mobile number.
Just put in mind that switch of network is free of charge which means, you don't have to pay for it. This is due to the MNP Act, or Republic Act 11202 that was signed by County's President Rodrigo Duterte in February 2019.
Final Thoughts
This thing is not yet implemented but the company formed by the mentioned biggest network service providers called Telecommunications Connectivity Inc. (TCI) is I guess ready to share this upcoming huge to Filipinos.
