Meet the team behind Disguised Pigeons

I came across this project by pure chance and I was it certainly impressed with the work that went into the NFTs so I reached out to find out that its a two man team all the way from Australia before I say anymore Il let one of them explain all.

Hey How's things ?

Yeah pretty good, got the 2nd Pfizer jab yesterday and all day today I felt cold . It was weird .

I bet what you get up to today ?

Not much, just watched a bunch of movies and joined Twitter spaces .

Nice do any work on your project today ?

Mostly shilling in Twitter spaces today, worked on an upcoming newsletter we are going to start dropping fortnightly or monthly

Oh brilliant . How did you discover NFTs?

Mostly through the crypto space. Heard lots of people talking about them on Facebook and Twitter, due to that I thought I was late to the party 😂 .

Awh and did you look at different blockchains for your project ?

Yes, I looked at Ethereum, Polygon, Solana and Wax. Opted to go with Wax due to no gas fees and the ease of use to get a wallet. I have managed to get a few friends who aren’t even into crypto into Wax because it’s a 2 step process.

Oh brilliant did you a project in mind when you signed up ?

Yeah I have been working on the Disguised Pigeons project with my friend since about August and then we launched in October via Wax - prior to launching I saw Funko was on Wax and bought a few as well 😂 .

Of course . How did the launch go ?

As expected. Slow. We opted to Delaware first and then build a community. Didn’t expect to sell until early next year but sold a few within a week. As of November we have sold over 30 and continue to grow in this current NFT market .

Oh that's not to bad . Where did you come up with the idea for the project?

Sitting at a coffee shop and seeing all the pigeons hanging around and eating, not giving a damn about people. Thought how funny it would be if they attempted to blend in with people and try not to be suss while doing something nefarious .

Ha ha ha love we call them rats with wings ?

Yeah they are one of the few animals (like rats) that are just about everywhere 😂 and they always look like they are up to something .

So what was the first one you made ?

Officially it was Larry dressed up as Batman and Robin and then we moved on to many others involved in pop culture, however the first ones we officially released were Larry the Pigeon dressed up as Bitcoin King and Ethereum King and then the first pack we released was based on Squid Games .

Has to rick pigeon lol . So how many have created ?

About 50 have been created so far but only 12 have been released . We are releasing them spaced out through the year and only for limited amounts of time - once the drops end then whatever has been minted is what has been minted .

A brilliant so basically you will great a floor price . Do you have a favorite ?

Yeah essentially we like to keep the prices low for people to buy in and then resell or trade for a full collection later. More of a Pokémon trading card style approach. So far my favorite is Princess peach which should be launching sometime in 2022 probably the second quarter at this stage. Focusing on a special Christmas drop at the moment end out 2021.

Can we have a sneak peak at her ?

Oh I love that will there be more game characters in the packs?

Yeah we are aiming for everything pop culture basically so lots already made and even more to come. We aim to be here over the next 5 years .

Oh wow do you plan to expand to other blockchains ?

Well Wax are working on an Ethereum virtual machine so it will be interesting to see what we can do there. But ultimately we will most likely keep Larry on Wax but we are drumming up more ideas for other projects on other blockchains that come under our umbrella name Blockchain Collectables .

Ah I understand . What the process of making each NFT ?

Brainstorming an idea then sketching it out on paper before moving to illustrator and photoshop. The brainstorming takes the longest because for packs we aim to release three cards with varying drop % and whilst some ideas sound great they can be hard to execute in 3’s .

Of course how long does each NFT take to create ?

Some as quick as 20-30 minutes but some have taken upwards of 2-3 days to complete. Once again brainstorming is the longest part and once we have that down the drawing and conversion takes minutes to hours at most .

Of course . Is there room in your project to collab with different artists ?

Of course. We are always open to collaborations. NFTs are all about community for both artists and buyers .

Have you chatted to any artists yet about a collab ?

Nothing solid but we have been in talks with the stoney baloney guys, trying to drum up some ideas before presenting, it may not work out but we will see in the coming weeks .

Who would be your dream collab ?

I’ve meet many artist in the Twitter spaces but Sleepy Kangaroos would be my fave .

Fellow Aussies with a very cool concept and community ideas. Brother and sister team from Sydney!

They on wax ?

No they are currently on Ethereum but I have been talking to them about Wax extensively. Many artists are unaware of other blockchains so I’m hoping by collating we can get them so explore!

Of course . Do you collect NFTs yourself?

Yeah I have a few on wax. Mostly from the goomotorsports collection, I don’t know why but I love them so much and now with hot wheels about to drop it’s going to be a spending spree very soon .

Who is your favorite wax artist ?

Oooh a tough one but I really like what Raffaelzito is doing with his 3D style Lego man inspired collection .

Yea I have . What has been the most exciting part of your project ?

Seeing people react when they see Larry as a profile pic and then hearing them talk about which ones they unpacked! Was just in a Twitter space earlier where somebody got a rare Rick one and was over the moon!

What has been the hardest part of your project ?

Marketing in the current market. As Crypto has taken a pump the NFT market has taken a slight downwards turn meaning there are even less buyers then there was a few weeks ago. On top of that the Wax blockchain seems to be booming in play to earn games so if you aren’t a game right now, it’s tough to get consistent sales .

Is this a full time job ?

Not at the moment, we hope it can be in the future but at the moment myself and my co creator are both working 9-5 jobs with any spare time going into this project .

So its a two man team ?

Yes two real life friends from Australia - been friends for about 15 years now .

Ah that's brilliant . How does your family think of your project ?

They are all supportive but don’t understand the crypto / NFT world so I don’t expect them to have a collection anytime soon 😂 .

Lol so tell us something random about yourself ?

I can ride a unicycle .

Ha ha what you like to do to unwind ?

Big movie buff so I love to watch movies and if I’m not doing that I’m usually playing video games. It’s where we as a team get most of our best ideas .

What kind of games you play ?

Big RPG guy, love collecting loot and getting lost in storyline’s although I am currently playing through Far Cry 6 for a change of pace .

Any good played most of them ?

I’m mixed currently. I like the storyline but they haven’t added much in originality and have removed certain features, some good and some bad. No more traditional skill trees so leveling up feels useless at times but I love the collectables so it’s keeping me entertained for a while

Hmmm I didn't enjoy far cry 5 !

Yeah there are little that make 6 like a downgrade, one issue I have although very little is that your animal companions don’t jump into vehicles with you anymore they just appear at your next area. Random thing to remove from 5 😂 .

When the next drop ?

Not 100% sure yet but we are working on a Xmas themed drop so it will be December sometime. Just working on how we lead up to it, more info and art previews should be released in the coming weeks .

Any chance of a competition for the readers ?

Yeah that’s essentially what we are working on on the lead up to Christmas - just trying to think of something a little different then the traditional giveaway .

Yes I saw and what a great idea! It will be different from what the rest of the others will do I believe!
