Today I will talk a little about one of my many jobs, what I like to do most, amuses myself, of my sublimated textiles.
First of all, sublimation? It is a term of Physics that means "To pass directly from the solid state to that of the vapor". To make matter pass from the solid to the gaseous state, without passing through the liquid state at any time, is the action of sublimating
When textile sublimation is carried out, precisely this process occurs. The idea is that the ink with which the designs are printed on the fabric passes from solid to gaseous state, and in that state is when it penetrates the tissues and permanently fixes on the piece.
To begin, the design that we want to sublimate must be printed on paper. For this special inks are used for sublimation. For this printing you can use the tools already known as a printer. Then the paper and the garment that you want to sublimate on a plate are placed together, and together they receive the heat 170 ° -210 ° C approx. and the pressure during a certain period of time, the ink is gasified and in this state is completely integrated to the fibers of the fabric. During this process and due to the amount of heat, the garments undergo some shrinkage, which depends on the material used and the design that has been sublimated.
