Changes
Change like death is inevitable.
It is one constant phenomenon that occurs every day, whether we want it to happen or not.
Looking around us, we all can agree to and attest to the fact that everything, whether living or non living, dead or alive undergoes some certain changes at different points in time.
Looking at humans and other organisms, it is agreeable to state that we all have underwent certain physical developmental changes at different stages in our lives - I mean, we were not the way we are now, five to ten years ago.
Even dead organisms, both plants and animals undergo certain changes when they die - from decomposing and being used as manure for farm crops, to becoming fossilised after several millions of years.
Since it has already been established that change is a constant phenomenon that occurs in our world every day and in different aspects of life, why then is change dreaded by human beings?
And I will explain what I meant by that.
Change is one of the things - one of the most difficult things that we face and have to deal with.
One reason we humans don't like change is we tend to get really comfortable and relaxed where we are and the thought of coming out of our confort zones and facing the hurdles we might have in front of us.
We get used to our old friends, our jobs, even the places we live in.
And even if they are not perfect or good enough for us, we accept them and deal with them because we are familiar with them.
We get stuck with them because we are not ready to accept and deal with changes.
Speaking generally, it is in the human nature to want to just relax in our comfort zones because we feel a sense of safety and familiarity in it.
It could be quite challenging to push oneself further away from one's comfort zone into greater and more challenging heights, because the higher heights we attain life, the more responsibilities we get from them.
Speaking about jobs, as an example; while some people prefer going out to work everyday - the 9am to 5pm type of jobs (I feel its because they like the feeling of consistency that such job gives), others prefer being entrepreneurs.
For an instance, in a situation where a person gets a 9am - 5pm job that can provide for his needs, such a person might tend to feel so comfortable with his job that he would find it challenging to actually branch out and stand on his own two feet. It could be as a result of being unsure of himself, or fear of what the future holds, or "what if's "
We like to get stuck in what God has done for us instead of moving forward into what God is about to do for and with us.
Just because God has blessed you where you are right now doesn't mean. He wants you to just sit back, get all cozy and just settle down there in your little cocoon. No, You have to stay open to what God Is doing now.
You have to stay open minded to and welcome new ideas that may differ from yours.
You have to stay open to criticisms and learn from them because it would aid in our development as well as capacity building.
Think outside the box!
What worked and was applicable ten years ago might not work today and if you are going to be successful, you have to be willing to change some things about yourself which may be an impediment to your growth, as well as to accept external changes.
Now in the aspect of our interpersonal relationship with others, we should constantly evaluate our friendships.
Who is speaking what into your life?
Who are you depending on?
Ensure that the person you're depending on or looking up to is actually not dragging you down or limiting you from blossoming from a bud into a beautiful flower.
