The statistics on Covid-19 pandemic infections continue to show a downward trend both in the world and in our continent "The Americas" at the close of September 5 and 6.
On September 6, a total of 221 million 877 thousand 477 positive cases were reported since the pandemic began, which caused a rise to 221 million 516 thousand 702 confirmed cases, of which 18 million 828 thousand 26 people were found to be active; yesterday, only 360 thousand 775 people were found to be positive.
The number of deaths yesterday was only 5,713 people, and to date 18,828,26 people have lost their lives due to this cause.
As can be seen in the following illustration, there has been a significant decrease in the number of confirmed cases and in the number of deaths, although the case fatality rate continues to be the same, with an average of 2.07 people dying for every 100 people infected.
In the particular case of our continent, 44,341 positive cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 221,877,477, of which 10,625,834 people are positive for the virus.
The number of deaths at the close of September 6 was 2,144,971 and on this day alone 602 people died at the hands of Covid-19. The following image illustrates these statistics more explicitly.
Regardless of the decreases in the number of infections and deaths in the last few days, we have learned from this pandemic that we cannot neglect the measures that we have been taking and that have allowed this positive contrast recently, not only vaccines save lives, but also, if we use masks, wash our hands frequently, maintain social distancing and the rest of the measures we all know, we can save thousands of human lives together.
We just need discipline and courtesy in this crisis, plus proper hygiene, eating healthy foods, and boosting our immune system.
