Nigeria new service chiefs; a cause to rejoice?

It's been an atmosphere of mixed feelings and reactions here in Nigeria after the chief of army staff Lt-gen Tukur Buratai and other service chiefs "resigned" from their offices. Nigerians have been calling for their resignation since 2015 that they assumed office because they don't seem bothered about the high and increasing rate of insecurity in Nigeria under their watch

Recall that the special adviser to the president on media and publicity Femi Adesina had continually defended them and defended the president for allowing the service chiefs to remain in their positions even after several calls by well-meaning Nigerian, including past presidents and leaders, to relieve the service chiefs of their duties but the presidency remained adamant as usual to the call of Nigerians

According to Femi Adesina, the service chiefs are the most competent and only the president has the right to appoint and sack service chiefs whenever and however he wishes, as if the president put himself there

Boko haram became worse and more powerful under their watch, killing people and moving about freely taking over peoples lands

Under their watch, Fulani herdsmen became so powerful and invincible at the same time, they move freely with arms to any part of the country, they kill and maim, rape women, kill people else in their homes and take over their land.

It will interest you to know that since 2015 to date, no single herdsman has been arrested, none has been sentenced nor prosecuted since 2015. They are the most dreaded and powerful set of people in Nigeria now, the untouchables. Touch or speak against them and you have the presidency and the entire Nigeria army to contend with

Sometimes  I ask myself what is so special about Fulani herdsmen that made them untouchable, why do they still move about freely even when it's obvious to the blind that they're the major problem of the country?

Some people think they're protected because the president is also a Fulani man therefore the president doesn't want to demonize or hurt his brothers; well that might not be far from the truth but there's more to it

Remember all the killings perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen, agatu killings, udi killings, southern Kaduna killings, plateau state, the kidnappings, they even sack an entire community and take over their lands while the police and military watch

What exactly is their mission?

Why is the government protecting them?

These should be the question on every Nigerian's mind...

A more cause to worry about is the fact that the presidency which has been adamant and deaf to the call by Nigerians to replace his incompetent service chiefs suddenly woke up and realized that they have to go

They never realized this with all the tensions that we have faced as a nation, they never realized it in the face of all the terror attacks and gruesome killings by boko haram and Fulani herdsmen. It is now that the south has realized their enemy and set up security outfits to fight them head-on. Amotekun in the southwest and ESN in the southeast

"Coincidentally",  this is all happening after Sunday Igboho issued a warning to the killer herdsmen in Oyo state, and ESN gave them a dose of their medicine in the southeast, and people are rejoicing and praising the presidency for changing his service chiefs

In his words, the president praised the outgoing service chiefs for their "overwhelming achievements in our efforts at bringing enduring peace to our dear country, ”

With the above statement by the president, do you still think they were " sacked" because of their incompetence? Think again!

And who is the new chief of army staff?

Major general Attahiru. Does that ring a bell?

Major general Attahiru was the man who was removed by Lt-gen Buratai in 2017 for incompetence, he could not lead an offensive against boko haram for reasons best known to him.

Now the same man is replacing someone who sacked him for incompetence in 2017, and you're expecting to see a change in the war against insurgency?

There's a problem, a big one. The earlier we realize that the war is them against us and not they against them the better for us, let us all unite and face the reality confronting us. A word is enough for the wise because he doesn't need many words to understand. A word is also enough for the foolish because he didn't understand many words

Incompetency is an understatement, they are anti-people and anti-progressive. Sometimes I wonder why African leaders maltreat their people, don't they see what Europe and America are doing and borrow a leaf from them, it's only evil
