Have you ever noticed that your face emits a little extra shine when it produces extra sebum?

It is given that when our face becomes oily, it tends to emit a little extra shine. Sometimes, it feels greasy most especially if it produced so much natural oils. It is frustrating right?

What is even more frustrating is that when you fee a tiny bump somewhere in your face. The greatest nightmare is when it attracts a battalion of fresh zits causing your face look red and personally, I feel my confidence to go low especially when those acne will leave a scar or dark spots.

With that, you may just want to scream and look for product that could whiten it. That is not what we are going to talk about today. Because today, we will be talking about some remedies for oily skin. The good thing is that, most of these remedies can be found at home.

Yesterday, I posted about The oil that makes my face emits a little extra shine.

If you have not read that yet, I suggest to read that article first so that you will have an idea about the meaning and causes of oily skin. In case you want to read it first, you can still proceed because the decision is in your hand.

If you want to know these home remedies, just proceed in the next paragraph. But, let me just remind you that I am not an expert nor dermatologist. All these things I am telling here are just based on what I know and based on the things I found out through research.

1. Wash your face

Washing our face seems so easy, but some people tend to be lazy and end up not washing their face. Usually, I just wash my face before when taking a bath. That is something I regret because it is only now that I learned to take care of my face. When washing your face, you may use gentle cleansers. As much as possible, avoid using bar soaps which contains fragrance because it may irritate your skin. Put in mind also not to overdo it. Washing your face at least twice a day is already okay.

2. Blotting papers

Blotting papers are those thin and small papers. Using it will not prevent your sebaceous glands from overdriving. But do not worry because it's purpose is to blot excess oil from your face to help minimize the shining, shimmering, splendid, yet greasy skin. This is available over the counter. You may use blotting papers as needed throughout the day.

3. Egg whites and lemons

Based on a research, it is thought that egg whites and lemons can effectively tighten up pores. But do not use it if you have allergies with these two. To make a face mask out of them, just combine an egg white with a teaspoon of freshly-squeezed lemon juice. Apply that to your face. After a few minutes, rinse it with warm water.

Other remedies are applying:

  • Aloe vera

  • Tomatoes

  • Avoid eating foods that are fried, high in sugar, and processed.

Final Thoughts:

Skin care routine is something that should not be seen as not necessary. Some people thought that it is just a waste of money, and that they do not need it. But let me tell this guys. We need to at least use a sunscreen to protect our skin from the harmful uv rays of the sun.

Just like what @kli4dsaid, make sure that the product you are using are non-comedogenic, hypo-allergenic, or anything that contains harsh ingredients so that it won't irritate our skin.

It is very important to know the things like this so that you may get an idea on what you should do and what is not, especially if you are planning to start a skin care routine.

Together, let us hope to have a healthy and hydrated skin by doing the right things!

See you again on my next article where I will be going to share some affordable yet effective sunscreen for those who have oily skins.
