Beautiful Cities in the Philippines: Part 1
It would be amazing to travel around the world but, growing up and looking at what my home country could offer, it made me decide that when time will come and my chances of traveling farther will be possible, I would like to visit every city in the Philippines and discover and unearth the beauty that it has.
Let’s start our mini tour, shall we?
Cebu City
Cebu City is a promising city; aside from the beautiful spots all around it, it’s contribution to the history of the Philippines is huge. It is considered as the oldest city and it used to be the capital of the country. It’s the center for trade, commerce, and tourism in Visayas.
This place is a home for creative people. If you want to go back to the past, you can visit Fort San Pedro, a place which served as a defense military structure and it dates back to the 17th century, Magellan’s Cross Pavilion, which exhibits the original wooden cross planted in the shore by the Spaniards during their expedition in the world’s first ever circumnavigation, and the Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino de Cebu.
If you want to go here, maybe try to set the date during the celebration of Sinulog Festival – which shows the nature of Catholicism and the cultural life of the Filipinos.
Bacolod City
Bacolod City is an urbanized city and is popular with the phrase “Smile, you’re in Bacolod”. This city is considered as the City of Smiles in the Philippines and in here, they celebrate the Maskara Festival in every fourth Sunday of October. This festival all started when they experienced a tragic disaster in 1980s and the people wanted to encourage everyone else to smile and uplift the spirits of the others.
The said festival depicts that the people in Bacolod City can overcome all the challenges that they have. Bacolod City is also the home of the famous Chicken Inasal so when you go there, would you let it slide?
There many places that you can visit such as The Ruins, which was built in the early 20th century, the historical San Sebastian Church, The Negros Museum, the Capital Park and Lagoon, and a whole lot more.
Davao City
Davao City is located in the main island of Mindanao, in the Southern part of the Philippines. This city has an advanced economy and is considered to be the most important city in Mindanao.
Aside from the busy city life, it has lots of neighboring places that you can visit if you want to have relaxation, reconnect with nature, or have a glimpse of heaven on earth.
Shown on the picture is the sleeping dinosaur island found in Mati, Davao Oriental. Many tourists from all over the world visit the place to witness the island that’s shaped like a dinosaur. To discover it in its fullness, activities like trekking are allowed.
Other attractions in Davao include the Samal island, Eden Nature Park, Crocodile Park, and others.
Most attractions in the Philippines are naturally made. I only listen three cities here because this will serve as the Part 1 for this series.
I hope I gave you ideas and some sort off information. Don’t forget, IT’S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES!
