Your Job May no Longer Needed in the Future

The year has passed and we celebrated it with joy and happiness.

Not all people can feel great happiness during New Year's Eve. Unfortunately some are celebrating it with anguish and melancholy.

How was your New Year? Did you celebrate it with jubilation or the other way around?

Here in our place people welcomed the New Year with fun and excitement. People in the neighborhood are all happy faces. Some men are already having their drinking session as early as 6PM.

This is my first post for this year. I know some of you have posted their first article yesterday for people sharing the same time zone with me.

Come Out And Play

Four days ago I brought my kids and wife to the nearby park and recreation. My kids are eager to go out because they have not gone to the park or mall for almost two years because of the pandemic. Since it's quite safe to go to public places now, I brought them to the park and for lunch as well.

My kids wanted to learn how to ride a bicycle so I rented two bikes for them and let them learn how to ride a bike by themselves. I reminded them first of the short guidelines and precautions. In less than 30 minutes they are enjoying riding the bike, then circling back and forth inside the park. Kids these days are real fast learners.

We stayed at the park for a couple of hours then by noon I brought them to the restaurant for lunch. My daughter wanted to eat spaghetti as it is her favorite. Unfortunately the restaurant doesn’t serve spaghetti so I went out to order spaghetti in the fast food nearby.

Dying Career

While I was on the line I noticed some delivery rider ordering food on the next counter. Then it made me think that fast food restaurants have their own delivery riders too. Why are some customers ordering food through delivery services like food panda or grab food?

In my own experience, ordering food between delivery services and direct order to the fast food restaurant have big differences.

Before these delivery services went trending, fast food restaurants had their own delivery services. If you order via phone call, your call will be redirected to the local call center. This is where issues arise. Most of the issue is the delivery time because the rider finds it hard to locate the customer. Some of the issues are with the call center agents. I know those issues because the company I am working for became the call center of one of the biggest fast food restaurants in the country. That was three years ago and they are no longer connected.

Going back to the delivery riders of fast food restaurants, their career at the company might end. Time will come that fast food restaurants will abolish their delivery riders because some couriers have revolutionized the delivery services. Besides, people nowadays are used to ordering food and stuff via delivery services.

I have been ordering food through some delivery food services and I was satisfied with their fast delivery. So, if the demands are always met, people will resort to ordering food via delivery services instead of ordering with fast food restaurant’s hotlines.

Some companies in other countries are now using AI for their delivery services. They are using unmanned vehicles to deliver packages to a desired location. Some even use drones and I think Amazon is already doing that.

There are a lot of labor jobs today that will no longer exist in the future because of advanced technology and one of these is the riders of delivery services. Some huge companies will no longer need extra manpower because they are being replaced by AI robots.

The greatest challenge that humans will be facing in the future is the need for socialization. It means more machines and less human intervention.
